From a little island came big inspiration. Jersey European Airways began operating regional services in 1979. In 1993 and 1994, various awards won for service made the airline a major player in the industry. In 2000 the airline transformed into the Flybe we know and love today and was voted Most Recommended Low Fares Airline’ by Which? In 2003. Their partnership with Air France meant that glamorous destinations like Paris were added to their already expanding list of destinations. In 2012, Flybe committed to making flying better with clearer booking options, transparent pricing and improved technology.

How to Check In
From the Manage My Booking section of the Flybe website passengers can check in online from 36 hours before and up to 2 hours prior to departure. ‘Automatic check-in’ can be selected at time of booking after which a printable boarding pass will be sent to customers from between 26 and 15 hours prior to travel. Passengers can also have this sent to their mobile. Check-in on the day of travel is also possible at one of the airline’s airport check-in desks.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
All passengers can bring on a maximum of 10kg in one bag of carry-on luggage, plus the addition of a laptop, free of charge, on Premium Economy only. Flybe does not offer Standard Economy passengers any hold luggage entitlement. If hold luggage is required, expect to pay £13.99 for 15kg, £14.99 for. 20kg, £30.99 for 23kg and £44.99 for two bags of 40kg total. If travelling Premium Economy 20kg of hold luggage entitlement is included in the ticket price.
Seating on Flybe is allocated automatically and free of charge if staying where allocated by the system. If a window or aisle seat is required a fee is charged. A standard seat will cost £6.50 or for one with extra legroom, £15.
Flybe, like most other airlines, charge an administrative fee of 3% (or a minimum charge of £5) if paying by credit card, but fees can be completely avoided by paying with debit card instead.
Service on Board
As a low cost carrier Flybe do not offer complimentary extras but there is a good choice of hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals from their in-flight menu if passengers don’t mind splashing out. The in-flight magazine is complimentary.
As of June 2012, Flybe has been confirmed as having outperformed many of its competitors in punctuality. As of February 2013, 86.8% of Flybe flights were on time.
