Flights to Amsterdam

There are few cities able to encompass a reverence for cosy traditions and a passion for cultural experimentations as well as Amsterdam does. Loved for its bohemian vibe and fantastic medieval structures as well as its modern hotels and shopping complexes, Amsterdam is a city of many sides.  And, thanks to a recent cultural overhaul, the Dutch capital is a holiday spot ripe for re-examination.

Finding the fun in Amsterdam

Amsterdam has long been a city with a strong cultural pull, but recent years have seen a trend towards rowdy weekend breaks that miss out on some of the greats. Now, the rejuvenation of many of its most intriguing cultural institutions makes the capital an enticing offer. Immerse yourself in artistry at the renovated Van Gogh Museum, check out the huge and impressive extension at the stunning Stedelijk Museum of contemporary art and don't miss out on the astounding Rijksmuseum.

When you'd rather be soaking up the sights outdoors, there are few better ways to do it than from the city's canals. Book a romantic candle lit cruise or choose a day trip that will give you a tour of the best sights. Alternatively, hire a bike and explore for yourself – Amsterdam is famously welcoming to cyclists – just don’t try biking home after a trip to the amazing House of Bols Cocktail & Genever Experience.

Flying to Amsterdam's Airports

If you're flying directly to Amsterdam, you'll be landing at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This sleek and modern building goes beyond airport essentials with some excellent amenities and services, including a small exhibition centre run by the Rijksmuseum. No wonder it’s regularly voted the best airport in Europe.

Easy links to the city centre, including a 15-minute train journey connecting the airport to Amsterdam Central Station, make it a hassle-free start to your holiday. However, for a potentially cheaper flight, you might want to consider Eindhoven Airport or Rotterdam's The Hague Airport. Both located outside Amsterdam but with good transport options, they'll add an hour or two to your journey but could cut your costs.

Choosing flights to Amsterdam

There are several different airlines flying from Ireland to Amsterdam, including British Airways, KLM, Aer Lingus and Flybe. Not all airlines service all of Ireland's airports though, so be sure to double check transport costs to and from your local airport when you're looking for cheap flights.

Packed with artistic and architectural treats and offering a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere adored by holidaymakers the world over, the Dutch capital is an excellent choice for weekend breaks or chilled out trips. Book your flights to Amsterdam and start discovering this gorgeous city for yourself.
