Dubai Airport

Dubai Airport (officially Dubai International Airport) is Dubai’s main airport and the major gateway to the United Arab Emirates. As of 2015, it is the world’s busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic: more than 77 million people passed through the airport that year.

Dubai Airport is the main hub for Emirates and flydubai. Emirates is the largest Middle Eastern airline, operating more than 3,600 flights per week to more than 81 countries across 6 continents. As well as bringing visitors to the UAE, Dubai is a popular stopover destination for flights between Europe and Asia and Australia. Emirates fly from Dublin to Dubai.

Dubai Airport Terminals

Dubai Airport consists of three terminals, which are capable of handling more than 90 million passengers in a year. Both the metro and a shuttle bus run between terminals 1 and 3, 24 hours per day. Emirates flights to Dublin leave from Dubai’s Terminal 3. As one of the world’s largest airports, Dubai Airport has plenty of amenities to keep you entertained while you wait for your flight to be called.

Dubai Airport Restaurants

Coffee shops at Terminal 3 include Starbucks, Costa Coffee, and Paul. For something more substantial there’s Caviar House & Prunier serving seafood and caviar, Wafi Gourmet serving Middle Eastern dishes, and American favourite Shake Shack serving burgers and fast food. There’s even an Irish bar: Irish Village.

Dubai Airport Shops

Shoppers looking to splash out won’t be disappointed by what’s on offer at Dubai Airport. You’ll find plenty of luxury retailers like Montblanc, Rolex, Hugo boss, and Armani here. You can even buy bars of gold at the duty-free.

Getting to & from the Airport

Dubai Airport is situated just 5 minutes from Dubai City Centre. Getting to the airport is easy: the road to the airport is conveniently named “Airport Road” and the airport is very well signposted. Car hire at Dubai Airport is available from all 3 terminals. 12 car hire companies operate out of Dubai Airport: Europcar, Avis, Dollar, Budget, Alamo, Al Wefaq, Hertz, Sixt, payless, Thrifty, National, Diamond.

Dubai’s metro line runs between Dubai Airport and Dubai City Centre. Trains are frequent, usually every 10 minutes between 5:50am (5:30am on Thursdays) and midnight (1am on Thursday and Friday). Services on Friday start at 1pm.

Tickets are available from the metro stations, and the cost depends on the number of zones you plan to visit. The rechargeable NOL card offers cheaper fares.

There are regular buses between Dubai Airport and Dubai City Centre. These leave from outside of each terminal. You will need to purchase a NOL card in advance as it’s not possible to purchase a ticket on the bus.

There is an official taxi rank outside of each terminal. Expect to pay AED1.96 per KM as well as the AED25 flag charge. If you have any questions, you can speak to one of Dubai Airport’s “may I help you?” team.
