Car Hire at Alicante Airport

This information is correct as of May 2015

Whether you’re planning a party holiday in Benidorm or a relaxing family beach holiday in Torrevieja, you can find the best car hire at Alicante Airport with Skyscanner.

Where to hire a car at Alicante Airport

There are eight car hire companies with desks at Alicante Airport: Goldcar, Enterprise Atesa, Avis, Hertz, Europcar, RecordGo, Centauro and Sixt. All of the desks are inside the terminal, on floor 0, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.

Petrol stations near Alicante Airport

Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.

There’s a Tangerina Galp on the A-70 about 2km from the airport, and a Campsa Service Station in the town of El Altet. This is just off the N-332 if you’re approaching from the south. There’s also a Galp station opposite the new terminal. The bad news is that it’s on the other side of the motorway. To reach it you will need to pass the airport, turn onto the N-332 towards Alicante, and then turn back at the next roundabout. The petrol station will be on your right.

Driving around Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. As you’re leaving the airport there’s a roundabout. Turn left for the AP-7 motorway (aka the Autopista del Mediterráneo) and the N-340, or use the sliproad to turn right onto the N-332 on the right. The AP-7 is a toll road, and most of the booths take credit and debit cards. If you don’t want to pay any tolls you can get to most places by using the smaller N-roads.

Getting to your destination

We’ve put together a quick guide on getting to the most popular destinations on the Costa Blanca from Alicante Airport.

Benidorm

Benidorm is the party city of the Costa Blanca with over a thousand bars and nightclubs. Despite its cheesy reputation, Benidorm has started to become fashionable again.

It takes about 35 minutes to drive to Benidorm on the AP-7 toll road, or just over 40 minutes if you avoid the tolls by using the N-332. It can be hard to find on-street parking in buzzing Benidorm: make sure you book a hotel with parking facilities.

Torrevieja

With its six sandy beaches and two beautiful nature parks, Torrevieja is a tourist favourite. It’s home to one of Europe’s largest street markets, and has an excellent buzz in the evenings.

Alicante Airport is around 40 minutes away from Torrevieja, both by the toll road (AP-7) and the free road (N-332). In fact, the N road is slightly quicker. During high season it can be near impossible to find parking on the side-streets near the beaches, but there are two large car parks which you have to pay to use. Make sure you reserve a hotel with car parking included.

Alicante

The capital of the Costa Blanca is perfect for a cosmopolitan city break by the sea. Check out our guide on things to do in Alicante to learn more.

It takes about 15 minutes to reach the centre of Alicante using the N-332, or 16 minutes on the A-7. The N road is also the prettier option: it runs alongside the coast. There are two zones for on-street parking in Alicante: orange and blue. You can stay for a maximum of one hour in the orange zone and two hours in the blue zone. Parking in orange costs €1.40 (just over £1) per hour. Parking in blue costs 60 cents (about 45p) for an hour and €1.80 (about £1.35)* for two hours. There are also some multi-storey and underground car parks, which are more expensive but have no time limit. Some hotels in Alicante have car parking; usually this costs extra.
