If you select a 'full to full' car rental agreement you will need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There's an Esso petrol station on the N193 just south of the airport exit. It's about seven minutes away from the airport. There's also an airport about 14 minutes to the north of the airport, also on the N193.
Driving around Bastia Airport
The dual carriageway is about four minutes drive away from the airport. The roads are generally quiet, and the quality of the tarmac is excellent. The roads around the airport are big and wide, but they can become narrow once you go into urban areas. We recommend choosing a small, city car if you're planning on visiting a lot of towns. Traffic in Corsica drives on the right-hand side of the road, which might take a bit of getting used to if you don't drive abroad very often.
Getting to your destination
Atmospheric and with a hint of faded glamour about it, Bastia is a wonderfully vibrant port city with plenty to offer visitors. Wander the historic streets, relax outside a cafe, and enjoy the hustle and bustle of every-day life.
It takes just over 25 minutes to drive to Bastia from the airport. Parking in Corsican cities is notoriously difficult. It's best to find a parking lot or leave your car at the hotel while you explore during the day. When you search for hotels in Bastia you can filter the results so that you only see accommodation with parking facilities.
A slice of the French Riviera on Corsica. L'Ile Rousse is a planned town, so doesn't have the ramshackle appearance of most towns on the island. There are plenty of gorgeous beaches within striking distance, so unsurprisingly it's a favourite with European sunseekers.
It takes about an hour and five minutes to drive to L'Ile Rousse from Bastia Airport. The nearby beaches have their own car parks, which you have to pay to use. You should get there early if you want to be guaranteed a space, especially in July and August.
This fiercely Corsican mountain town buzzes with student nightlife while its gorgeous citadel provides an atmospheric backdrop. It's a popular base for adventure sports and hiking holidays.
It takes about 50 minutes to drive to Corte from Bastia Airport. Parking is widely available in the town, although it can be busy in July and August.
