Where to hire a car in Bodrum Airport
There are two main car hire providers at Bodrum Airport: Sixt and Avis. From here you are able to rent all small hatchbacks to estates and SUVs for exploring Turkey’s beautiful coastline. The offices are located inside the arrivals hall.
Petrol stations close to Bodrum Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is a petrol station just 3 minutes from Bodrum Airport. Exit the airport on the second exit of the roundabout, onto Milas-Bodrum Havaalanı Yolu. At the fork in the road, continue onto the D330, and continue until you are able to make a U Turn. You will drive past the Shell garage before this, but it’s necessary to make a U Turn to get to the entrance of the station. There are several more petrol stations along the D330 if this one is not available.
Driving around Bodrum Airport
The roads in Bodrum are in good condition and here they are easy to navigate. Follow the roundabout to get to the D330 when leaving the airport, which is the main highway connecting Bodrum to the centre of Turkey and the south coast. There are smaller country roads leading into Turkey’s backcountry, which may become more ‘windy’, but they’re still easy to drive.
Popular destinations to drive to from Bodrum Airport
The town of Bodrum used to be a small and simple fishing village, but in recent times it’s become a pleasure seekers paradise with sleek bars, modern restaurants and a handful of new resorts.
The international airport is 36km north of Bodrum. To reach Bodrum, exit the airport on the second exit and keep right for the D330. Continue for 36km towards Bodrum, and soak up some of the epic coastal scenery on the way. Parking in Bodrum can be tough during peak season, so make sure you choose a hotel with parking facilities.
Karabag is a quieter alternative to Bodrum, sitting further out on Turkeys southwest Peninsula. There isn’t a huge variety of hotels here, but it’s great for exploring this part of the coast.
Karabag is only an hour’s drive away from the airport. Head south on the D330 for 55km, heading straight through Bodrum and onto the Peninsula. Continue on this road until you reach Karabag. There is limited off-street parking in Karabag, so it’s worth asking your hotel which facility is closest before you set off.
Milas is an ancient city in ‘inland’ Turkey, just 20 minutes away from the airport. It’s better known for it’s ancient ruins and the Gümüşkesen tomb.
Milas-Bodrum airport is shared between Bodrum and Milas, the other main town in this area. To reach Milas, head north on the D330, following the signs towards Milas. Continue for 20 minutes, and turn left on the D525. Drive straight along this road until you reach the centre.
