Petrol stations near Caen Airport

Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.

Luckily there is a BP garage located just 6 minutes drive from Caen Airport. From the airport get onto the D9, taking a right onto Rue de l’Eglise. Get on to the D14, take the first exit onto the N13 and exit at the D830 towards Bretteville. At the roundabout take the second exit and the petrol station will be on the right hand side.

Driving around Caen Airport

Caen Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. The airport is just outside the Caen ring road with direct access via the airport road to RN13. The A13 is the main route through the region. This motorway runs from Paris to just south of Rouen and through to Caen. At Caen it links to the A84 which continues to Avranches near the Mont-Saint-Michel then south into Britanny and towards Rennes. In Lower Normandy, the A28 and A88 provide access from the south towards Caen and Rouen respectively. In Upper Normandy the A28 emerges from the other side of Rouen towards Calais. Another major motorway in Upper Normandy is the A29 from Amiens and Lille through to Le Havre.

Bayeux

Once the scene of a dramatic Norman invasion in 1066 – as wonderfully depicted in the iconic Bayeux Tapestry, Bayeux is a magical city that thankfully escaped largely unscathed through battle. 13th century buildings remain standing in a delightful architectural jumble that overhangs the winding canals beneath, now adorned with flowers and fresh laundry. Mesmerising, tranquil and green, Bayeaux is a place to relax and reflect and enjoy some gentle French hospitality.

Bayeaux is just a 25 minute drive from Caen Airport. Get on to the D9 then the Rue de l’Elise and following it to the D14. Take the exit for the N13 then exit 36 for Bayeux. Keep right and merge onto the D33 following signs for Bayeaux.

Deauville

This spectacular thoroughbred of a seaside resort, and destination of choice for elegant French society, boasts sweeping promenades and boulevards lined with pastel coloured parasols; opulent casinos, fine dining, a horse racing track and some fabulous designer boutiques for shopping and chic cafes for sipping a skinny coffee. At its edge are meadows and flower-filled fields that swoop down to soft sandy beaches and the towering cliffs of Trouville. Deauville is the Grande Dame of French seaside holidays, evoking pure, unadulterated 1920’s glamour.

Deauville is a 50 minutes drive from Caen Airport. From the airport take the D9 then the Rue de l’Eglise heading for the D14. Merge onto the N13 and then the N814 taking exit 1 for Porte de Paris. Keep left on to teh A13 toll road exiting for Deauville. Follow the signs to the centre.

Caen

With its medieval walls and chateau, a cluster of abbeys and museums, Caen is more than worthwhile visiting for any history buff. The D Day beaches are within easy exploring distance while the centre has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and outdoor markets in which to explore the fashionable and foodies side of the region. Summers bring the beautiful beaches to life.

Caen is just 15 minutes drive from the airport. Get on to the D9 from the airport and get on to the Rue de l'Église. From there, take the D14, merging with the N13. Take exit 6 towards Caen city centre.

There is some free on-street parking in Caen, although not in the historic centre. Many hotels and shopping centres in Caen offer free car parking while there is also parking at the ferry port and at the airport.
