Where to hire a car at Doha Airport
There are nine car hire companies with desks at Doha Airport: Al Muftah, Budget, Sixt, Europecar, Hertz, National, Budget, Go and Oasis. All of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.
Petrol stations near Doha Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
Luckily there is an airport petrol station located just 10 minutes drive out of Doha Airport. Head north on the F Ring Road where the garage will be on the right hand side.
Driving around Doha Airport
The Airport is just 8 km from the city centre, while the old city centre and the West Bay business district are all not more than a 15-minute drive away. Qatar itself is very easy to explore by car. The drive from the Saudi border in the south to Madinat ash Shamal in the very north of the country is 100 miles, taking around 2.5 hours. Most roads lead to and from Doha; route 1 leads north to Madinat ash Shamal, the Dukhan Highway leads west to Dukhan and route 5 heads south to the Saudi border.

It takes just over 5 hours to drive to Riyadh from Doha Airport. Take the F Ring Road from the airport and get on Route 522 in Saudi Arabia from Route 75. Take Route 40 then 522 and continue following signs for Riyadh.
With a world class National Museum, Bahrain’s little landmass belies all that there is to see the do there. Built on the trade of shimmering pearls that helped construct Bahrain’s spectacular fortress, today it is a modern paradise of Formula One racing, glassy skyscrapers, fine dining cruises, hip neighbourhoods like Adliya filled with bohemian shops, galleries and lively bars and restaurants. You can barter for bangles in Gold City or take in a show at the National Theatre, spend the day trawling the mega malls for luxury items or spend the night dancing to hip hop and samba.
It takes just over 4 hours to drive to Bahrain from Doha Airport. Take the F Ring Road and Get on to Route 6448 in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Take Route 95 then Route 80M on to Bahrain.
Delightful Doha’s exotic skyline is punctuated with traditional wooden Dhow boats that bob in its azure bay. Opulent resorts cater for every travellers whim while the century old souks still invoke the days of the past with sellers crammed into its labyrinth of stalls. Doha is just 15 minutes by car from Doha Airport. Head north on the F Ring Road and follow this all the way to the city centre.
On street parking is available in Doha and is charged 24 hours a day from Monday to Sunday in the city centre and costs from €0.50 for 15 minutes. The maximum parking time allowed is 2 hours. On the outskirts of the city centre, parking is charged from Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and on Saturday from 9am to 6pm. The rate is €0.50 for 30 minutes. There are also large capacity car parks which cost from €1.20-€1.70 per hour or €10 for the whole day. Free parking is available outside the city with Park and Ride services. Some hotels in Doha also offer free parking.
