Where to hire a car at Gdansk Airport
Budget, Avis, Dollar, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Panec and Express all have branches within Gdansk Airport. You can find them all on the ground floor of the main hall.
Petrol stations close at Gdansk Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is an Orlen petrol station just outside of the airport. When you exit the rental car park, turn right onto Juliusza Słowackiego 198, and pull over after about 200m to head into Orlen, the petrol station.
The next closest fuelling station is around 14 minutes drive from the airport. Take the first exit on the first roundabout from the airport onto Juliusza Słowackiego/Droga Wojewódzka 472. Continue onto the S6, then take the exit DW221 towards Gdansk. Turn left onto Starowiejska, and left again to reach the station.
Driving around at Gdansk Airport
Gdansk Airport is 20 minutes outside of Gdansk. The airport is located to the northeast of the city, close to the hills of Oliwa. The airport is well connected by a number of main roads leading into the centre of Poland, and the coast.
Popular destinations to drive to from Gdansk Airport
Gdansk is a thousand year old city, and it aches with Baltic architecture, stories, from the port in the north to the Artis Court Museum and Oliwa Cathedral in the centre.
Head north on Spadochroniarzy when leaving the airport. Continue onto uliusza Słowackiego/Droga Wojewódzka 472, and take the exit for the DW501 to merge onto the DK91. This iwill lead you into the centre of Gdansk. If you wish to reach the coast, take the D91 north, towards Letnica.
Gydnia is a modern and busy city on Poland’s north coast. In September it hosts the annual Polish film festival, sometimes dubbed the ‘Polish Cannes’. It’s around 20 minutes away from the airport, and it’s pretty easy to find on street parking here.
To reach Gydnia from the airport, follow Spadochroniarzy, taking the exit for Droga Wojewódzka 472, to Radarowa. Take the Take S6 for 20km, and turn right onto Chwarznieńska to Slaska. This will lead you into the south of Gydnia.
Kartuzy is a small town in Eastern Pomerania in Poland. It’s around 32km from Gdansk. The churches here date back as far at the 14th Century. Despite having an Old Town, it’s still a relatively easy town to drive around.
To reach Kartuzy, follow the Spadochroniarzy to merge onto the Dk7. Follow the DK7 to get onto the DW211, and drive for 27km until you reach Kartuzy.
