Where to hire a car at Glasgow Airport
There are seven car hire companies with desks at Glasgow Airport: Enterprise, Avis, Thrifty, Budget Europcar, EasiRent and 5th Gear. National Car is inside the terminal while the rest are just outside the terminal building, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.
Petrol stations near Glasgow Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
Luckily there is a petrol station located just outside the airport complex on the M8. Simply leave the airport via St Andrew’s Drive, at the roundabout take the second exit onto White Cart Road and the BP petrol station will be on your left.
Driving around Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads, with excellent motorway networks and the main M8 going directly past Glasgow Airport. The M8 connects to the rest of the motorway network and is the perfect starting point for exploring Scotland. It links Glasgow to Edinburgh while the M80 and M9 links the city with Sterling to the north.

It takes around 35 minutes to reach the wilds of beautiful Loch Lomond from Glasgow Airport. Simply take the M8 from exit 28 and continue on the M8 until you reach Argyll and Bute. Exit on to the Great Western Road to Crainlarich then towards Dumbarton Road. Follow signs for Loch Lomond.

The journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Simply take the M8 from exit 28 from Glasgow Airport. Merge onto the M8 and continue following signs for Edinburgh. Follow the M8 to Calder Road, exit onto the A71/A720 and continue onto the Western Approach Road into the centre of Edinburgh.

It takes just under 20 minutes to reach Glasgow city centre from the airport. Simply get on the M8 from the airport, take exit 15 from the M8 and continue on the A804 to Killermont Street, Glasgow. Glasgow offers a choice of multi-storey, NCP, Park & Ride and on street parking. On street parking is hard to find, expensive and time limited. For longer stays, use the multi-storey or NCP car parks which are also cheaper. Many shopping centres have parking attached while some hotels in Glasgow offer free parking.
