Where to hire a car at Mytilene Airport
A number of car hire firms, including Hertz, Budget and Sixt, offer car rental from Mytilene Airport. The car rental centre is just across from the main terminal building.

If you select a 'full to full' car rental agreement you will need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is a Shell service station on the outskirts of Mytilene, about 10 minutes drive from the airport. This is the nearest and most convenient place to fill up your tank if you're approaching the airport from the north.
Driving around Mytilene Airport
The roads on Lesbos are mostly quiet single carriageways. Traffic in Greece drives on the right-hand side of the road. This can take a bit of getting used to, so be extra alert: especially when turning onto a new road. Driving on the island is generally a pleasant experience, as you can reach most places within a couple of hours. Local drivers are polite, places are well sign-posted, and there are plenty of places to fuel up if you need to. The island has some unsurfaced roads, and if you want to explore them it's best to choose a four wheel drive car.
Getting to your destination
The capital of the island is an ancient city infused with history and fantastic local charm. Stroll through buzzing bazaars, drink ouzo in traditional tavernas, or explore historic ruins.
It takes just under 15 minutes to drive to Mytilene from the airport. Free parking is available throughout the city, although if you're staying overnight we do recommend looking for hotels with car parking.

It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to drive to Mithimna from Mytilene Airport. Free parking is available, either on-street or in large parking lots dotted around the town. You shouldn't have much trouble finding somewhere to park, although it can be a little more difficult during the summer high season.
Famous for its petrified forest, the western village of Sigri is also a great place to try your hand at windsurfing and kitesurfing.
It takes just under two hours to drive to Sigri from Mytilene Airport. Parking in the village is easy, with plenty of free spaces. Some hotels offer secure parking, too.
