Where to hire a car at Murcia Airport
There are four car hire companies with desks at Murcia Airport: Goldcar Rental, Europecar, Centauro and Firefly. All of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.
Petrol stations near Murcia Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is a petrol station located just 10 minutes from the airport. If approaching the airport from the motorway, turn left at the roundabout before the airport and follow the road for about 5km. At the roundabout, the Repsol garage will be on the left.
Driving around Murcia Airport
Murcia Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. Located approximately 17 miles outside of the city it is a popular choice for visitors to Alicante, Torrevieja and Cartagena. There are two main access roads to the airport, the Mar Menor Road, which links it to the city of Murcia and the AP-7. Murcia Airport is very small and easy for navigating by car.

Murcia Airport is around two hours away from Almeria in the south of Spain, via the Ap-7 toll road. Follow the Ap-7 towards Andalucia before exiting at junction 467 onto the E-15 which is also a toll road. Take the left exit towards Almeria. Be aware that there is no parking in the historic centre of Almeria, but there are car parks located just 5 minutes drive from the Alcazaba, one very close to the promenade, in the Calle Tamayo, and two more near the Rambla de Almería.
With its six sandy beaches and two beautiful nature parks, the sunny, seaside resort of Torrevieja is a tourist favourite. It’s home to a fantastic family water-park, one of Europe’s largest street markets, and has excellent evening entertainment.
Murcia Airport is around 30 minutes away from Torrevieja, both by the toll road (AP-7) and the free road (N-332). In fact, the N road is slightly quicker. During high season it can be near impossible to find parking on the side-streets near the beaches, but there are two large car parks which you have to pay to use. Make sure you reserve a hotel with car parking included.

It takes just 30 minutes to reach Murcia city centre from Murcia Airport. Take the AP-7 road from the airport taking exit 782 which is sign-posted Murcia. Follow this into the city centre.
On-street parking in Murcia is charged from Mon-Fri from 9am to 2pm and again from 4.30om to 8pm in the city centre. Saturdays are charged from 9am to 2opm only. The maximum time allowed for parking is two and a half hours in the main central Blue Zone and is charged at €0.50 for one hour or €2.70 for two and a half hours. Parking on Saturdays in July and August is free of charge. There are also car parks which offer unlimited parking. The rates for these are around € 1.80-2.05 per hour, or a daily maximum of €18.00-23.50, depending on location. Some hotels in Murcia have car parking; usually this costs extra.
