When to go to Goa
December is the peak season for Goa: not just because the weather is perfect, but because of Sunburn Festival. This is one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world, drawing in international DJs for 4 days of solid partying (and a little sunbathing). January gets slightly quieter, before the mayhem of Goa Festival ensues in February, and Holi, the festival of colours, kicks off in March. If you're intent on going to Sunburn Festival, you should definitely book your hotel several months in advance – there are more people than beds come Sunburn, and you'll want somewhere to kip after partying!
As with all of India, Goa is a Hindu community, and thus they also celebrate Diwali in October. Whilst demand for hotels and flights increases during this time, it's an amazing time to be in Goa!
If you really are after the quiet season, try going during the British summer, or spring. You might be caught in hot weather or monsoons, but you're likely to find a great deal on your flights.

City guide: what to see and do in Goa
Churches near Goa: The Basilica Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral sounds right out of place in Goa, but thanks to the Colonial Era there's still plenty of European architecture in this tropical paradise. Alternatively, the Shanti Dhurga Temple is a great example of local architecture.
Beaches in Goa: Part of the delight of Goa is sitting on the beach at your resort, and not doing anything. Chapora beach is stunning, and most of the hotels in the area are based around Goa's gorgeous coastline. Baga Beach is perfect for parties, Candolim beach is considering one of the most beautiful in all of India, and Cavelossim is great for escaping the crowds.
Waterfalls & Nature Trails: The Dughsagar Falls is a 4 tier waterfall just a short drive away from Goa. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is lots of fun for family holidays too!
