Getting to and from your Biarritz hotel
Biarritz is a small city with lots of pedestrian streets, so getting to and from your Biarritz hotel shouldn't be a problem. If you want to see more of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the French Basque country, hire a car in Biarritz. Public transport in the south of France can be a bit irregular. If you do decide to travel without a car, it's best to keep a copy of bus and train timetables with you while you're out exploring. Taxis are available in Biarritz city centre, but if you head out into the countryside it's a good idea to pre-arrange pick-up.
Biarritz is not only a fantastic spot for surfers, it is also a very pleasant and fun little city in the South West part of France (the "Basque Country"), only 25km away from the Spanish border. People are nice, food is fantastic (French, Basque, Spanish) and the region, between ocean and mountains (the Pyrenees) is truly gorgeous.
This is the place to go for big wave action in France. It used to be all about body surfing, but surfing has caught on in recent years. Beautiful big dunes and cliffs.
Great waves, Great town + Great people.
