This tiny village's major claim to fame is the “balcony to the Aegean”, one of the most popular spots on the island to watch sunsets. However, there is more to Imerovigli than sunsets. The hamlet, with a population of less than 500, also has lovely churches in the traditional Cycladic style, the monastery of Saint Nikolaos, Skaros, and the ruins of a Venetian castle.
What a beautiful little village! Either enjoy Imerovigli via the Fira to Oia cliff top walk, or many choose to visit specifically for sunset - giving it the nickname 'Balcony to the Aegean'. The most iconic feature is the blue dome and bell tower of Anastasi Church. You can also peer enviously over at mega-villas down below such as the Grace Santorini 4* hotel.
It's the best place to catch a sunset, as opposed to tourists infested Oia and Fira! The view is unsurpassed by any spot in Santorini, and dare I say, the world!
A once in a lifetime destination stunning.Overlooking the caldera and so peaceful. It is an easy walk into Fira but just far enough not to be bothered by the crowds that come off the cruise ships each day. It has some great small hotels and a couple of good tavernas.I loved it here
