Hongakuin
You can stay in the current precincts of Honkakuin, read the sutra, and bathe in the light that appears to emanate from the statue of Jizo Bodhisattva, a feeling of happiness established from the 12 shokubo, being named Kobo due to always taking the Lotus Sutra. This shokubo was built in 1190 by Gyouku at the invitation of Kojijyu during the Kounin period. Kobo Daishi During the Genroku time of the Sovereign Higashiyama, Kobo was changed to Hon-kakuin to pay tribute to Kojijyu.
