The reps make the place. Alex Katie and Cameron are legit. Couldn’t recommend it any more. Gotta stay here if you’re in siargao

Never again!

Where do I even begin with this review.
Before I begin I just want to start off by saying everyone recommended mad monkey especially as a solo traveller. So I booked. I really believe people were just recommending it because it seemed to be the hype
When I arrived I was told they didn’t accept card and only cash… thought it was weird as usually hostels and hotels accept card. But that’s okay. Pretty expensive considering we are in the Philippines.
Didn’t even get shown around had to ask where the bathroom was.
The people in my dorm were so rude… constantly playing music at 3am.. leaving the lights on.. shouting. One night two girls in the room even had an argument. Not sure what about but we could hear them screaming outside the dorm all night. (I know this isn’t mad monkeys fault but I need to explain everything)
Then one day I went out and get a phone call from mad monkey saying our room will be renovated… like okay… why even put me in that room in the first place. I came back and all my stuff was in another room but it wasn’t just my stuff… someone’s crusty old razor was in my luggage. Disgusting.
Now let’s talk about the bathroom… I don’t believe they ever get clean… there is slimy gritty stuff all over the walls. Omfg. Yuck!
The hostel is so far out from the town you either have to get a tuk tuk or hire a motorbike. I tried walking the first day just to see how far it is.. I hardly made it to the town and it took me an hour.
The food menu is nice but VERY PRICY compared to the rest of the town. I would suggest you eat outside.
And last… but not least …
They have reps who are regular backpackers who stay for long periods of time and they usually run activities and what not. I stay in a female dorm and one of the male reps tried to come into the female dorm and got angry when the girls told him it was female only and he slammed the door.
For the future… I am not sure if I’ll stay with mad monkey again… sorry. I am out!

Stop by for a drink

It was our first day in Siargao and it was raining when we stumbled upon a bar while exploring the area. I decided to stop for some early drinks and everyone decided to go along with it.
We started with 1 bucket of beer and after a few hours, we had 4 buckets. It was a cool place to unwind and I assumed it was a popular spot for night owls.
We all had fun and everyone left feeling cheerful. I can't comment on the food since I didn’t try any but the rest of the group seemed to enjoy it.

Amazing Experience at Mad Monkey Siargao

I just want to give a huge shoutout to Georgina, Jovan and Bombom for making my Tri-Island Party Boat Tour absolutely unforgettable! As a solo traveler, it can sometimes feel a little intimidating to join group tours, but from the moment I arrived, all of them were so approachable, friendly, and full of good vibes.
Their energy was contagious – they kept the mood fun, the music flowing, and made sure everyone felt included. What really stood out to me was how genuine they both were. It didn’t just feel like they were doing their job – they were truly there to make sure we all had a great time. And we really did!
I didn’t expect to form real friendships on this trip, but thanks to Georgina, Jovan, and Bombom I left the tour with not only amazing memories but also new friends. They’re both a big part of why my experience in Siargao was so special. Mad Monkey is lucky to have them!
