Nice little centrally located beach town with a quaint and grungy feel. Kihei has great budget traveler places to eat. The beaches are decent, but not exceptional. This is also the most gay friendly spot on the island (though most people in Maui are very accepting) with largest LGBT community.
Nice gem! so glad we stayed in Kihei centrally located to all the "things" you want to do in Maui and affordable. great places to eat, shop, golf, snorkel, explore, surf soak up the sun and if you get out early enough you'll catch the beautiful turtles Charlie young beach and/or spot dolphins playing down by Makena beach.. the beaches are awesome you get to feel like a "local" around this town as everyone is friendly. met some nice people from Canada and Spain. We will be back to this gem of a city
Great beach town on the south shore of Maui. A mix of local and tourist flair.
Kihei is where I live. It's a beach town, full of condos, but a lot of neighborhoods too. The Piilani highway and Kihei road run all the way to Wailea. There are mostly small shopping centers around Kihei. For other purchases we go to town (Kahului). Weekends we head for the beaches too. Sunday sunset my family is at Kam3. Come by and say "hi." Kihei is that kind of town.
