Malaga Airport Departures Information

Malaga Airport, also known as Malaga Costa del Sol Airport has three terminals, two of which are currently in use. Terminal 2 is dedicated to budget airlines Ryanair and Easyjet, the rest of the airlines depart from Terminal 3. In the Terminal 2 departures lounge there are limited shops, The Express Shop offers duty free goods and Ritazza and Upper Crust offer quick bites to eat. Terminal 3 has duty free shops, a wide selection of popular fashion brands, convenience shops, Starbucks, Soho Coffee Co, and Upper Crust. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport.

When to check in at Malaga Airport?

The general recommendation is to arrive at Malaga Airport at least two hours before a flight within the Schengen Zone and at least three hours for non-Schengen Zone flights, this may differ depending on your airline.

Ryanair and Easyjet do not have check-in desks at the airport, you will need to check in online in advance. Online check in is open up to two hours before the scheduled flight departure time. Bag drop desks are available for those travelling with hold luggage, these typically close 45 minutes before the flight time, however you should confirm this with the airline.

Self service check in kiosks are available in the check-in hall for Norwegian and Iberia flights.

Malaga Airport Arrivals Information

Although two terminals are in operation at Malaga Airport all arrivals exit via the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3. The Arrivals Hall is located on the ground floor, facilities here include Relay, Gambrinus bar, Café & Te coffee shop and car hire desks.
There is a Holiday Inn Express within the grounds of the airport and lots more hotels nearby.

Pick up and drop off at Malaga Airport

There is a drop off point outside of the Departures Terminal where you can stop for a few minutes. You cannot leave your car unattended when using the drop off zone.

If you are picking up passengers at Malaga Airport there may be delays going through passport control and baggage reclaim, parking in the Express Parking car park would be recommended. This is a multi storey car park opposite the drop off zone and a short walk from the airport.

Where should I park at Malaga Airport?

Malaga Airport has four parking options, the Express Car Park is ideal for short stays of a few hours or less and is opposite the entrance of the airport. The P1 General Car Park is suitable for short and long stays and is the closest long stay car park just 3-4 minutes walk away via a moving walkway and the P3 car park is the cheapest car park ideal for longer stays, this is a 10 minute shuttle bus ride away with departures every 15 minutes. The P1 and P3 car parks can be booked in advance to take advantage of discounts and special offers.

VIP car parking is available for those wanting to simply drop off their car and head into the airport.

How to get to and from Malaga Airport

Malaga Airport is 8 km from Malaga, and serves the many popular holiday resorts in the Costa del Sol including Torremolinos 8km away, Fuengirola 25km away and Marbella 51km away.

Malaga Airport by car

Malaga Airport is easily accessible with the A7, MA-20, and the MA-22 running alongside the airport. To reach Malaga from Malaga Airport take the N-340 and exit onto the MA-21 then the MA-20. This is a 14km drive and will take approximately 20 minutes. Torremolinos is just a 10 minute drive heading south via the N-340.

Malaga Airport to Marbella will take around 40 minutes via the AP-7 toll road heading south, alternatively you can avoid tolls travelling via the A-357 and A-355.
Car hire at Malaga Airport is available from a wide variety of car hire providers including Hertz, Avis Goldcar, Europcar, and Enterprise. Car hire desks are located in the Arrivals Hall.

Malaga Airport by train

There is a train station under the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3, there are train services to Malaga and Fuengirola with departures every 20 minutes. A train to Malaga will take 11 minutes and is the quickest way to reach the city.

Malaga Airport by bus/coach

Bus and coach services depart from the Malaga Airport Transport Hub. The A Express Airport Line 75 bus is the service to Malaga, this has a journey time of 15 minutes with a number of stops at key Malaga destinations.

If you're travelling to Marbella the direct airport bus service has a journey time of 45 minutes and departures every 45-60 minutes
