The check-in halls are divided into two sections, check-in desks 1-82 are located in section 1 and home to the majority of the airlines, check-in desks 100-130 are in section 2 and operated by Air France, Eastern, Flybe, KLM and Tui.

The majority of airlines offer online check-in in advance, online check-in times vary so it is important to confirm times and conditions with your airline. If you have checked-in online and are travelling with hold luggage you will need to take this to the bag drop desks in the check-in hall upon arrival at the airport, these typically close 60-45 minutes before the flight.

Pick up and drop off at Birmingham Airport

Car parks 1, 2 and 3 are multi-storey car parks which are just a 2 minute walk from the terminal building, this is ideal for those who are picking up passengers from the airport and short stays. Car Parks 5 and 7 are both located on-site but a 5-10 minute walk or shuttle bus from the terminal.

Although you can turn up to each car park on the day, if you are parking for a long period, booking in advance is recommended for discounted parking rates.

Premium Meet and Greet Parking is available for those looking for the easiest route to the airport. You can drop off your car at the dedicated area outside of the terminal, and pick it up here upon your return.

How to get to and from Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport is located 6 miles southeast of Birmingham city centre, in Solihull. The airport has a convenient location for those travelling to The NEC Birmingham just 1 mile away.

Birmingham Airport is easily accessible by car from many towns and cities in the West Midlands via the M42. To get to the airport from Birmingham take the M6, then the M42 and exit at Junction 6.

Birmingham Airport is served by the Birmingham International Railway Station, you can reach this by a free Air-Rail Link shuttle. This takes approximately 2 minutes and departures are every 10 minutes from 5:15am to 2am.

Trains to Birmingham New Street are operated by Virgin Trains, London Midland, Arriva Trains Wales and CrossCountry. Trains depart approximately every 5-10 minutes with an average journey time of 13 minutes. Services from the station are also available to destinations such as Coventry, Wolverhampton, Derby and Oxford, further destinations available with connections at Birmingham New Street.

Birmingham airport by bus or coach

Bus services are ideal for those travelling to the local area, these depart from the airport terminal or the Birmingham International railway station where you will need to use the AirRail Link monorail to reach the airport. Network West Midlands Buses operate five bus services to and from destinations including Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, and Erdington. The Oxford Bus Company operate services to Oxford via Warwick and the National Express have services to Oxford, Milton Keynes, and cities further afield such as Manchester and London.
