Biloela is a small regional town in the north of Queensland, known for it’s agricultural industry. The climate is generally pretty warm, being on a parallel with Gladstone on the coast.
Where to hire a car in Biloela Airport
Hertz is the only car rental company available in Biloela Airport. However, Hertz, Avis and Budget have branches around Biloela Airport and in the town centre. It’s easiest to rent a car from Hertz as they are locating inside the terminal building, however, there is not a huge range of choice for car hire from Biloela Airport.
Petrol stations close to Biloela Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There is a petrol station right outside Biloela Airport. Exit the airport onto Winston Street, and the BP filling station will be on your left. There are also plenty of stations in Biloela if this station isn’t available: exit the airport on Winston Street and turn left onto Burnett Highway. Continue north for 11km up to the Town Centre for shops and petrol stations.
Driving around Biloela Airport
Biloela Airport is set in the middle of the countryside, which means it’s easy to drive around, but there is a small journey involved if you want to reach anywhere else. The A3 connects the airport to Biloela centre in the north and Mungy to the south, whereas the Dawson Highway connects this in land suburb to the coast. Biloela is the closest town to the airport, should you need to get to the shops or a hotel.
Popular destinations to drive to from Biloela Airport
Biloea (Thangool) Airport is in the Shire of Banana. Biloela is known for it’s agriculture, but people also choose to holiday here to explore the surrounding land.
Biloela Airport is 11km south of Biloela Town Centre, accessible via the A3. Exit the airport using Winston Road and turn left onto Burnett Highway. Continue for 10 minutes to reach the town centre. It’s also fairly easy to find a parking space in Biloela, especially if you are staying in one of the holiday parks.
Banana is known for it’s mining and agricultural industry, but there is little else to the small town of Banana west of Biloela.
Banana is a 40 minute drive from the airport. Turn left onto the Burnett Highway when leaving the airport, driving into Biloela. Turn left again onto the Dawson Highway, and continue for 30 minutes until you reach Banana. It’s easy to find an on-street parking spot in Banana.
Cania Gorge National Park
Cania Gorge is a beautiful national park, an hour’s drive away from the airport. Head south on the A3, and continue for an hour until you reach the turning for Cania Road. There’s a Caravan Park in this National Park, but don’t expect much in the way of facilities or shops.
Gladstone is a small town on the coast of Queensland, with great beaches, holiday parks and access to the Great Barrier Reef, as well as beautiful rural hinterland.
Gladstone is an hour and a half away from Biloela. Turn left when exiting the airport onto the A3 towards Biloela. Turn right onto the Dawson Highway, and continue for 120km. There are parking options available along the beach – just make sure you check for Pay & Display metres.
