Lovely, cosy

Last minute booking, securing just the room I needed for an overnight stay. For me, Skillion was perfect - warm, cosy, microwave, kettle, tea, coffee, bar size fridge, super clean. Relaxing stay before my necessarily late afternoon check in then an early morning departure.

Very friendly hosts and enjoyable stay

We only stayed one night in early May 2026, but another night would have been better. We were in the Farrier Room with a king bed. Richard and Ros are excellent hosts. Richard showed us around on arrival and invited us to wander and see the cows and the rest of the property. We enjoyed seeing the black cow with her calf and the highland cow (Milly Moo, I think). In the evening we had pre-dinner drinks and cheese platter in the cosy homestead with another couple of guests, and Ros explained the history and read some interesting excerpts from old journals of the original settlers. We all went in to dinner and enjoyed the home-cooked meal and dessert. Had a lot of laughs that night and really enjoyed the easy-going camaraderie of Richard and Ros.

The worst nights stay in 21 days holidaying in Tasmania.

Spent one night here and it was the worst experience of my time holidaying in Tasmania for 3 weeks. The rooms was not as we were led to believe when booked by Tasvacations. There were millipedes aplenty on the floor, a mouse came into our room and went under the bed. The curtain covering the front door was ripped and not hanging on hooks. The place was a disaster. The owner offered us a bottle of wine and cheese platter for the inconvenience. I would never stay there again. Poorly run and not tidy.

A truly memorable experience where Ros and Richard make u feel most welcome. The golf course, rooms, history (golf museum), food and wine 1st rate. Do yourself a favour - must see,/do in Tassie!
