A true 5* experience in clean, modern, artistic, eco-conscious hotel

Fabulous hotel right in the centre of the action in Cairns steps to the esplanade and easy access to shops and tours. We had a 2BR configuration for our family of 3 and it had a lovely kitchen with bar stools, laundry set up, coffee/tea, living area and balcony. It was a last minute booking so it was expensive but was the best place we stayed in during our vacation in cairns (another 3BR luxury apartment) and a port Douglas resort. The beds were super comfy, funny coloured robes, softest toilet paper, and best Origins minty toiletries. Beautiful art everywhere and eco conscious. Lobby has a library area and the pool area is lovely to relax on even after checkout. Staff were generally helpful too. Main restaurant was closed on Monday unfortunately. Tiny issue was that there was no counter space in this configuration but family that stayed in adjoining studio rooms did have a shelf. Circular shape for a key is also a bit odd. Would definitely recommend the Crystalbrook Bailey for anyone staying in Cairns!

Less than "Luxury"

Crystalbrook Bailey is in a great location right in the middle of some incredible food & drink spots, and within a few minutes walk of the beautiful Esplanade area.
The hotel itself feels very fresh with a stunning open air reception area with art displays and courteous & attentive staff.
The room itself (Urban King) was decently sized (around 25 M2), but the layout may have felt a bit cramped for more than 1 person, and I can see it being an issue for luggage under those circumstances with little storage space available - but for a solo traveller, it's more than fine.
Price wise - it's OK (averaged $340 per night over 2 nights), but it has two issues which are killers for me when it comes to self-described "Luxury Hotels" - firstly, if a room is advertised as having a King Bed, that's what I'm expecting - not two King Singles pushed together with a mattress protector on top (two *very* firm and lopsided mattresses at that), and the shower was not enclosed, and very easily prone to flooding the entire bathroom area due to a lack of containment for the water.
Both of those issues contribute to a less than perfect stay - which is what I'm looking for in "5 Star Luxury".

Hotel has good eco-credentials

This is an eco-friendly hotel. The room key is a round wooden disk. Shampoo and body wash are in movable bottles, not fixed to the wall, as in many hotels. This makes them much easier to use. Staff at reception are both friendly and helpful. Room area good size but the space between the armchair and the bed was a bit limited in our room. Hotel has some eating stations, but beware Breakfast is more expensive i f not booked in advance. Food at breakfast is adequate, but it wasn't clear where the egg cooking station was and there was no staff member around to ask. Dirty crockery isn't automatically cleared from tables where guests are still sitting, but efficiently collected from empty tables. Cairns is not a cheap place to visit, but if I cam again, I would use this hotel.

Great Central Location

The room we had was what you'd expect from an "upmarket" hotel, bright modern and with a spacious bathroom.
The location was central for tour pick ups, bus service and walking distance to the markets.
