Don't get the wheelchair unit

I stayed in this place for a week in early December 2025 and it was great. I was really looking forward to the return visit after a hospital stay, that would be a 3 week stay and as we were to have a 2 bedroom apartment, I hoped for one like in the pictures.
Sadly, the apartment was not great. At all.
We were given a wheelchair accessible apartment, not sure why as I was a cancer patient. It was, I'll be honest, awful.
The balcony went off the two bedrooms, so neither had privacy from the other room, oh and the door onto it from my room would not open. Maintenance guy ended up having to remove the door handle assembly so for the rest of the stay it had to be propped closed with a chair.
No balcony off the main room meant it was weirdly claustrophobic. The windows were quite high and small, so you were in a box, kind-of. It wasn't pleasant.
The TV had major issues, the aerial on the roof wasn't working well so TV was often unwatchable, pixelation and freezing etc.
The internet is incredibly flakey and unreliable, you must have your own account because you'll be hotspotting your phone very often.
The kitchens aren't great, you'll need to plan to be heating things up mostly as cooking is difficult. The microwave is a microwave and convection oven, the instructions are weird and don't really make it clear how to use the convection so it was trial and error.
If you're using the washing machine, you're better off getting a drying rack from the staff rather than trying to use the built-in dryer. I wish I'd known we could borrow a drying rack, we ended up drying things on the balconey. Then we saw a rack when the cleaning ladies were clearing out a room.
There was no storage. This was something I noticed during the first stay but it was worse in the wheelchair unit. The bathroom was huge but there was absolutely nowhere to put your toiletries. There was a sink, with no storage under it or over it, or even ON it! With two bedrooms, you'd have potentially 4 people staying there. Barely room for your toothbrush.
No hooks to hang things. Anywhere.
There were wardrobes in the bedrooms, but no dressing table type furniture. There was nowhere to put your stuff, bedroom or bathroom. No useable surfaces.
There were good things. The location is fantastic, and the staff are this place's biggest asset. Every one of them was helpful, engaged, knowledgable, they were top-notch. Couldn't ask for better. Massive tick for the staff, all of them.
The air conditioning was very good.
The decor is nice and modern, lot of polished concrete.
The beds were excellent, firm but supportive.
There's two lifts, one was broken for the duration of the 3 week stay.
The rooftop is excellent, there's an open air gym with a roof, gardens, BBQ area with tables and a good BBQ, and views out over Westmead. the sports dome and Church St.
There's a Coles literally just behind the hotel, in a courtyard-thing.
And you can have your dog. It's a $250 fee, but many of us utilised this, met so many dogs in the 3 weeks.
I guess I was just disappointed to get such an annoying unit after being so impressed with the studio unit (I think it was called a "superior studio"). I would have been really annoyed if we were paying.
I might stay there again, I'll be paying so these things will be on my mind, but the memory of the nicer unit might swing it.

Dear ant100,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We appreciate your feedback and would like to address your concerns regarding your recent experience.
Your apartment was booked through your travel agent, and due to the accessibility features of our hotel, you were allocated a two-bedroom apartment. This arrangement was made to accommodate your needs, particularly as you mentioned requiring a second bedroom for your carer.
We understand that during your stay, you requested to not be disturbed by contractors, and we made efforts to respect your wishes for the door. However, we regret to inform you that the issue you experienced with the television could not be resolved due to weather conditions, as conveyed by our maintenance officer.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back in the future.

The basement parking was a problem due to the unpleasant smell. However, its proximity to the light rail makes it easier to access.
