Sprayed with spit by the park manager
Pretty location but the new management is appalling. Read the other reviews on this site, many people have had the same experience with her over the last 6 months. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a caravan park in 35 years of camping.
We booked and paid a deposit a year in advance and had an email confirming our regular campsite. When we got there, it was a shambles, they put us on the wrong site and were completely disorganised. When I tried to explain that I had an email stating that we had paid for our regular site, she physically pushed me and screamed in my face that she would throw me out of the park, and she was sick and tired of people complaining, spraying me with spit in the process. She went from zero to 100 in two seconds. Her husband did nothing, you could see how embarrassed he was of her behavior, but he didn't have the backbone to pull her up. I am taking to VCAT.
Additionally, it was filthy, with feces smeared on the outside of the toilets, rubbish everywhere and the stench was unbelievable. Needs new managers who are organised and know how to interact in a professional manner.

Site given away. Very disappointing management!
BOOK ELSEWHERE! Arrived to find people already set up on our pre booked site. Went to speak to the campers and they said that they had the same situation happen to them and were directed to set up camp on our site??! Asked management and they said that they are new and having trouble with the map. Hmmm… if we could all see that was our site, why couldn’t management??? No proper solution offered, just told to set up on what was left available and very defensive and rude in their responses to our questions regarding our booking. No refund or compensation offered. Very disappointing.
Lots of other lovely places around with helpful, honest management. You have been warned!

Total Disappointment
I’m sorry to say, we unfortunately haven’t had the same pleasant experience at Gentle Annies caravan park at King River, as others have.
If I could rate this caravan park a zero, I would. That’s not based on location, which is lovely, it’s based on an overall service experience.
I do in advance, apologise to you the reader for the lengthy review.
However, I’m doing this as I believe it’s important so others don’t get caught in the same way we had.
As a family we had booked and paid for three sites at the non power site in section C site 11,12 and 13.
On our arrival we discovered that
another family of several members were camped on one of our sites C13.
We called, and Mark one of the managers, came and apologised saying he had misread the map and guided this family to the wrong site ( please note, this is a self guided park ).
We’ve agreed not to have the other family moved ( the park was booked beyond's its capacity ).
He didn’t believe we could get a refund but we would get a credit.
We didn’t see him ( Mark ) for the rest of our stay ( Melbourne cup weekend ) as they were very busy and were hardly ever in the office.
On our leave we went to check for our credit and were approached by Kim ( the other manager ) who was verbally aggressive and told me that she was sick of people complaining, adding “you will get nothing, you occupied all three sites” and to “go away” !
I was stunned saying “excuse me!? At which point she walked back inside and shut the door!
Just than Mark, the manager who apologised to us on the first day of our arrival for his mistake , walked out and told me to leave them alone , as he walked past me!
We’ve done many trips in our caravan and stayed in many parks over the years, there’s been some great stays, some ok and some fair ones, but we’ve never come across such a dishonest, deceitful and totally disgraceful behaviour.
Ps:Since than they have added extra sites as shown in photos.

New manager a nightmare
This park used to be a favorite for us and our friends when Petra managed it. Now it's a joke. Booking is a nightmare! Can't get a call or email answered easily. Told yo say group booking with name for all of our people to quote, yet they are put somewhere else!! Then sites I requested 2 months prior where not allocated to us and we were allocated rubbish sites on the fence of the park boundary!! I obviously had an issue with this and we were moved as the whole unpowered section was empty barr 2 others and no one on the sites I requested! Kim is rude in communication and in person and computer illeterate! One of our party was missing from our group site, and when questioned, Kim said they just said they wanted to be next to your booking doesn't that mean on ur booking???? Apparently not! Yet that couple was allocated away from us all together!! Such a shame as we loved it when it was gentle Annie, but now is a nightmare!

A bit disappointing, great location but........................
A bit disappointing, great location on a beautiful river setting but the Caravan Park is very run down. The toilet facilities were neglected, not clean or cared for. The paint on the floor was worn through to the concrete, the mortar lines in the brickwork were full of dust and dirt. Power to caravan sites is supplied by leads across gravel roads with vehicles running over the leads. For a place that could be so good it is shame to see it in such a poor state.

Dear John. thank you for reviewing us, we as Manager agree the park is run down and owned by DEECA with a Committee of Management responsible for the upgrades & improvement in the park. The Park received recently Grant funding to address the issues you mentioned. A new female portable toilet block is already installed and in use and clean & modern, the male toilets will be installed in March 2025 and the old toilet block you pointed out, will get demolished in the next 6 month.
