Definitely a party hostel NOT suited for family

I’m trying to be not the most negative here, because our girls didn’t mind too much and the location was great - the great location-that’s about it. The owners are ?, kinda try to accommodate but also just business people who sell rooms -so it’s not entirely the full picture -I called to book a room for a family-two young children as nothing was available in Yeppoon. I would have appreciated them saying that this by now means suitable (we have stayed in hostels before and been travelling throughout so cautiously ok-but luck has it that this was pretty below average- it’s definitely a never again for that one
The facilities, including the kitchen, lounge, and outdoor area, are in a reasonable good/filthy condition however it’s more up to the guests who leave it in a state of “gross”(dirty dishes all ove run the morning after a big party at night)
We were assured that quiet time is 10pm-of course that’s delusional but also kinda down to respect -I had to ask them to wind down their party outside our room at midnight -a private room boarding communal area is an oh btw resting setup.
It clearly has signs all over the place quiet , non smoke if -quiet area from 10pm-scrap that if you want any quiet or don’t like smoke-it’s everywhere and signs do NADA
While I respect it’s a backpackers -don’t sell it to families and assure them -silly us but this is definitely a party hostel
Owners are not even present -rules and signs do nothing if nobody’s there to enforce or control them. Great place to get wasted on whatever you like -that’s for sure

One of the more smaller hostels that I have stayed in but was really really nice clean tidy and in a good location if driving and have a car.
