Just the job - we will return
Breakfast being very good and it's only a short walk to the ski bus stop too. The bar in the cellar is great fun. Ski storage and heated boot room was just the job.

Very worn hotel and poor service
My stay at Hotel Sonne in Wagrain was unfortunately a very bad experience. The hotel looks extremely worn and the facilities are not working as they should. For example, the shower could not deliver properly hot water, making it difficult to take a regular bath.
The level of service is also very low. It seems unfortunately that the owner is upset that you as a guest are there at all, and there is no interest in ensuring that you get a good stay. The atmosphere is sour and unpleasant, and it does not make the place nice to be on. It also seems that the staff is nervous about the owner’s reactions, creating a bad atmosphere.
Overall this is not a place I can recommend to others and I will definitely not choose to stay here again

Disappointed
Due to a sudden and very serious family health emergency, we had to cancel our trip just a few days before arrival. We did not ask for a refund, only for the possibility to reschedule the stay or receive a voucher for a later date — we would have accepted any kind of compromise.
However, the hotel’s response was completely inflexible and shockingly lacking in empathy. There was no sign of compassion, no willingness to respond to an exceptional situation in a humane or flexible way. Instead, we received a formal and cold rejection by email.
What made the situation even worse: a phone conversation was not possible — no one spoke English, and we received no help or support whatsoever. For a hotel that claims to value hospitality, this was a shockingly unprofessional and disappointing attitude.
We will definitely never book this hotel again — and we strongly advise against it for anyone who might ever need understanding or flexibility in a difficult situation. Here, it’s clearly money over people.

In a word, great!
Internally, a lovely “old-fashioned” decor.
Nice spacious room with mountain views.
Very nice service, good breakfast and plenty of options for dinner.
We have been here in the distant past often in winter, but not in recent years because we no longer ski given our age.
