Very disappointing stay. This resort was very pricey so I had high expectations. Check in was at 4. When I got there at 3:45 I found out they were still cleaning my room. I was offered to go to the pool but by the time we would change it would already be past 4 so I declined. I got my room just after 4pm. First thing I noticed was how dated the rooms are. I had a one bedroom suite and discovered my bed was memory foam! I have never experienced that in a hotel. There was also a dead wasp stuck to the floor in the bathroom which was gross. After that I went to my friends room where we were making dinner half way through the power went out. It came back in about 15 minutes later so we were able to finish cooking. Later we were hanging out and the power went out again. And stayed out. We had no idea what was going on but it was impacting the entire hotel they had a generator that provided light for the halls and common spaces. It was incredibly difficult to do anything in our rooms with no power and pitch black. Had to use my phone light for showering and noticed the water wasn’t very hot. Went to bed figuring the power would come on through the night. It did not. At 7am I walked to the front desk to try and find out what was going on. Turns out wildfires and storms knocked out power to bc hydro and impacted a bunch of towns in the area. But they had no other info. Very little disaster recovery preparedness.. lists of people started showing up asking questions, we saw some checking out.. we waited till 1030 and heard that their generator was on life support. There was no food, no pools, no idea when anything would be back up.. rumors were flying around it could be days. We were told water would be running out soon and that all hot water was gone. We decided to check out a day early and head home. When we were checking out they said that we would get a refund for that night and that they would put a note on file. I believed this would make it easier for the hotel to have less guests sitting around wondering what is happening. We found out that electricity was not restored until Monday at 6 am, had we stayed we would have spent the entire weekend with only 4 hours of power. No water, no food, nothing to do. A nightmare of traffic to get home on Monday… etc.. then to add insult to injury we just found out the resort is NOT honouring refunds for those of us that left early! I can understand that the power outage was out if the hotels control however, I didn’t pay $450 a night for 4 hours of power and a poor disaster recovery plan and staff that stated we would get a refund. Shame on copper point for not doing better. I most certainly will not be back and recommend driving out to revelstoke mountain resort for a much better stay, better resort, newly renovated rooms and better pricing
