Downhill…

While technically it may still be a motel but in reality it is low income housing. With it comes all the “entertainment” of non-stop back and forth of people coming and going.
All.
Night.
Long.
I wore headphones and then earplugs so it wasn’t that bad. My truck didn’t get broken into either so that was a win.
It is “cash only” so be ready for that. It’s not overly clean, but they will give you towels and toilet paper if you ask for it.
I’ve stayed here in previous years but it has gone downhill. I am leaving this review because the existing reviews are all dated and are clearly reviewing a place that is a motel of the past. Not one previous reviewer used the term “crackhouse” so I felt it needed to be updated.

Quiet !

Hitching Post Motel is located off of the Yellowhead Hwy 16 bypass, on the South side of the road.It is tucked in 'behind' a neighboring hotel, and far enough away from the roadway, that most roadway noise is blocked. Perfect quiet location for those who sleep lightly.
The Motel is definitely older, but has been nicely updated outside and in. As said in other reviews, it is a bit tough to source the access to this property, so keep a lookout for the sign posted on the laneway.
In the rooms, there is plenty of space in the main area. Bathroom is tight tho, and lacks any counter space. Room features include a TV with plenty of channels, and a nearby couch where you can sit and relax. Work desk and chair, microwave, and mini fridge. Bed is on the firm side. Sufficient but not great lighting. I was there in the winter and the room was warm. Heating was quiet, without a loud fan kicking you awake all night long. Lots of hot water.
Perfect for solo travelers, workers, and business.
Only cons were the firm bed, no counter space in the bathroom, and you have to drive to find any place to eat.

excellent place to stay

the hitching post is an excellent place to stay...the suite was comfortable and spacious...the view of the river valley was beautiful...it was quiet even on the nights when it was full of workers...give Darryl a call and see if he a spot for you.

Great value for a good night's rest!

Best price in town - a little hard to find (its just in behind the Lone Star Motel at the top of the hill). An older motel with fewer amenities but for a frugal person who just wants clean, quiet and easy accessible (park in front of your room), you will enjoy this place. Very Clean, great mattress, quiet and most of all the price beats everyone.
