Old hotel in a nice location

Park View Hotel is not really the hotel that you would want to stay in on your first night in Havana. We had no high expectations at all of the hotels when we arrived in Cuba, but for the price that you pay, you might as well go to one of the private casas. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, and we had the hotel all for ourselves...
Even with no other guests around, they gave us room 403. Really old room, with really old furniture and light smell of mold. Not really the best view from your dirty window. Not enough water coming out of the shower and the toilet. No hot water. We did have Wi-Fi, but they charged us 2 CUC for one hour... (all other hotels in Cuba charged less for a card).
Breakfast was OK: 2 eggs, toasts, a few slices of fruits, ham and cheese and (if they have it) fruit juice. Coffee, tea or water were not for free. It's not that bad (we had worse in Cuba) , but they shouldn't charge for the beverages. The view from this topfloor restaurant is nice.
The location is the only plus for us. Located near 2 good museums and central park.

Revolting hotel

Stayed at this hotel with my husband on our last night in Cuba hoping it would offer some niceties that we hadn't necessarily had in our two weeks travel (having stayed in casa particulares - a room in someone's house). How wrong we were. As other reviews also state, staying in a run down hotel is fine
- for run down prices, but what really did smart was that you are robbed blind for what you get. I understand Cuba is a poor country, and getting hold of resources may be difficult, but it felt like staff couldn't be bothered to change the the things that were easy to do so to make improvements. The hotel was terribly dated, but furthermore, just felt totally dejected from the moment you walked into the lobby/bar area. There was mould on most walls - can't buy the paint? Clean them! The lamp in our room didn't have a bulb, replace it! A leak in the bathroom, fix it! And I'm not the first to mention leaks in the bathroom. The pillows were the most revolting I have ever slept on - having stayed in a few hostels, that's saying something. Horrible stark lighting. Then breakfast awaits you in the morning. Rubber scrambled eggs and the standard ham and cheese washed down with an awful cup of coffee.
I do however want to say something positive and that is the staff were super friendly from doorman to front desk and the great waiter serving breakfast. The only other positive, it's in a good location. My parting words - just don't stay here, save yourself the robbery and stay at a casa particular where, somehow they've managed to maintain super clean, comfy beds, nice pillows, non-leaking bathrooms and excel themselves with their breakfast spreads. For a fraction of the price.

Ok Hotel in Heart of Old Havana

We stayed with an academic group for four days. Hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of museums, theatre, etc. If you have a room on a high floor with a balcony as we did, it provides a nice view of the city and fresh air as well (air conditioning works). In room safes are included. Breakfast is decent, on top floor and was included. However, if they offer espresso or coffee from the bar, it is an extra charge. Staff were helpful. We had a plumbing problem which necessitated moving to another room, which was done quickly. We could not get wifi, although they said it was available in the lobby. There is a small bar in the lobby which also has a TV (room TVs also showed CNN!). It served as a nice place to relax after a day of activity.

Good location

The hotel is nice and has an unique charm. It is not very modern, but the room was clean and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was good and the food fresh and we had enough diversity to choose from. The hotel is located near the Granma Memorial is Havanna (just go out of the hotel and you will see the Granma). From here you can easily walk to Habana Vieja with it's beautiful squares.

Very good location
