The history of the building is amazing and the way that is preserved, particularly in the dining room was amazing. It is in a noisy part of town near the Old Town square, so there is a bit of people partying noise at night but it was interesting enough place to stay that it was worth putting up with a bit of noise. The staff were super nice and helpful. It is central to walk to all the key places that we wanted to visit on our holiday.

this is a 14th century building, superbly located made into a hotel.That to me, a draw. My room was on the third floor, under the roof; the elevator only reaches the second floor. On checkin I was told I would have to bring my luggage up to the third floor myself. The ancient staircase to that floor does not have evenly placed steps, nor are they level, at 90 degree angles-- treacherous. I clung to the bannister and proceeded very slowly throughout my stay. For departure, there was no way I would stand at the top of that staircase with a suitcase whose weight could pull me to a fall and asked for help. The desk attendant the night before my departure said his shift ended before I would be leaving my room and that the person on the next shift was a woman, who could not help. I managed to get all that needed to be put into checked luggage into the piece early-- then had to go downstairs to ask his help because I could not reach the desk using the room phone. He did come up, and about the backpack I also left for taking down, asked, you want me to take that, too? He did but the whole thing was not service to be expected. In general, if one asked for something, staff responded but only in response. Breakfast is heavy on meats; there were vegetables, yogurt, cheese, and bread. The bathroom gets tiny plastic containers of shampoo-- all Hotels.com listed hotels should be required to transition to wall-mounted containers of quality shampoo, soap, and hair conditioner.

The hotel is old and renovated, clean and quiet. One has to hold the shower head since there is no place to hang it. We had to attach a plastic bag to the glass attached at the tub to prevent the water from leaking.

Pleasant stay

Location great. Bed was comfortable and room had plenty of space. Enjoyed the breakfast and appreciate that the dining in the evening was very good.

You cannot get a better place for a hotel in Prague than Hotel Cerny Slon. It's right in the middle of the Old Town.
The staff were very polite and courteous. They helped whenever I needed it.
I never tried the breakfast buffet so I can't comment on that but the dinner I had was to a very high standard.
The room I was in was very spacious and had a lovely medieval feel to it, with it's timber ceiling, even though it had contemporary features.
Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Cerny Slon to anyone that was going to Prague.
