Get somewhere else!!!

The Pension Kern is really abdoned in the days. The room, the bed and the shower is ugly as can be. The beds are really self-made and sleeping is hell!
There is no breakfast and no employment. The pillows are so smelly, that I put it to the reception (where nobody is seen...)
Save your money and get a better hotel!!!

Pension Kern

We booked the place online, and from past experience, things are not always as they appear. We arrived before check-in and they were kind enough to store our luggage while we were gone sightseeing. The room was very nice and clean, a little on the small side but very functional. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. The only negative is that transportation to the tourist areas is cumbersome and not readily available. We would definitely consider staying there again.

Nice cozy place

The room was very nice clean , very warm (with minus temperatures outside) and there were free toiletries available to use.The wifi signal is very good. The breakfast was ok not a big variety but it was included in the price and it was decent.
The area is very sparsely populated many abandoned houses and many villas. If someone doesn't have a car they must take the bus from the bus stop which is right outside the hotel but in the weekend the intervals of the bus are every 30 min as we saw. We had a car and we parked outside at the street because the parking was always full (just space for 4 cars and very near to each other). Actually outside on the street there were always many parking places. To get to center we parked near Radlicka metro station and from there we took the metro.
One minor disturbance (that's why I put 4 points and not 5): We arrived on Friday evening at around 21:00 and no one was at the reception. They had sent me an sms how to get the key and I found the key with no difficulty. Saturday afternoon at 17:00 again no one at reception. I wanted to get a toilet paper on Saturday evening and couldn't ask anybody. To their credit when I sent an sms they answered immediately but I believe Saturday afternoon at 17:00 is not so late so as to find nobody there. Anyway.
To sum up we had a nice stay for a very good price and I recommend this hotel to everyone.

Not a preferred neighbourhood

There are quite a few abandoned houses around the neighbourhood, which is a bit creepy. Definitely not a preferred location for solo/female traveller. It takes 10 mins walk to reach the nearest tram station. Although there is a connecting bus stopping right in front of the accommodation, you wouldn't want to wait at any of those bus stops. Better take uber /taxi back home if it's later than 20:00. Luckily it is not too far away from the city centre so the taxi fare is very cheap and reasonable.
Anyway I like that they serve hot food for the breakfast. Everything is clean and it is very comfy staying there.
