Very warm and welcoming

Large old style bedroom. You have to love the old because poor sound insulation due to wooden ceilings and floors, which is normal
very quiet in the center of a village and next to a medieval town.
Ideal for a stopover or a short stay
only one regret, the price of breakfast is too expensive even if it is served in the place and of good, excellent quality.
the owner of the establishment is very friendly and cordial.

Disappointed!

We stopped at Donzenac on our way up from the Languedoc to the Channel and were looking forward to our stay at La Gamade based on previous Tripadvisor reviews. First impressions were good. The hotel stands in a prominent position at the top of the Main Street. However, at 3 in the afternoon it was totally shut with just a notice on the door saying it was open at 5. We returned at the appointed hour to be met by an unsmiling and monosyllabic landlady. Thankfully we spoke basic French as she made no attempt to even exchange pleasantries in English. Our room was accessed through a door on a back street and was somewhat basic - very dark and with an extremely noisy loo!! On enquiring as to an evening meal we were told that none was available in the hotel but no attempt was made to offer a recommendation as to a local restaurant let alone make a booking. Be warned, Donzenac is short of restaurants and they are pretty much booked solid at weekends. We did finally eat on the terrace of the pizza restaurant across the square which was actually very good but heaven help us if it had been raining. We would have gone to bed hungry!
The following morning’s breakfast served in the charming dining room of the hotel was actually very good with freshly squeezed orange juice, pancakes and local honey and the landlady’s male partner was friendly and anxious to ensure that we had everything we wanted.
This could be a super little place in an attractive village not far from the motorway but sadly we won’t be returning!

The perfect balance between authenticity and refinement...

Not so easy to strike the balance between authenticity and refinement...
I stayed one night at the hotel which is very close to the highway as I was heading to Toulouse
In the aftermath of the lockdown, I wanted to breath some fresh air and to avoid mainstream hotels
First of all, I was happy that the hotel is still alive after the Chinese like lockdown that was imposed to France...
The hotel is an ancient coaching inn that has kept all its attributes
The owner is lovely and the rooms are spacious with a modern setting and a nice decoration
I went for the half-boarding option and I enjoyed a great diner with once more the perfect balance between local products and healthy food: Nothing heavy!
Cheery on the cake, price for value is great and the view is charming
Worth a detour!

A wonderful welcome in a cosy logis de France, La Gamade

For a stop over on our way to Spain we spend a night in the Hotel Logis de France La Gamade and we enjoyed it very much. Not only the lively medieval city of Donzebac was worth the visit, also this hotel made us feel welcome. The medieval house has been tastefully renovated. Our evening meal in the pretty small restaurant was light and delicious, we slept quietly and then had a typical French breakfast with flûtes, croussants, fresh orange juice, some fresh fruit and a yoghurt. To be recommended!

French Hotel with History

Booked hotel with breakfast, very good value, stayed on floor 3, (no lifts) however there is a rear entrace where you can park your car and easier access to carry your bags to room.
Our room had wonderful views over the village centre on one side and to the valley on the other via the two corner french windows.
Comfortable bed, clean but would be better with decent pillows. They were as flat as a pancake so advise you to take your own if you can when you stay over.
Breakfast was adequate in the morning in a lovely room which is the main dining room. The usual coffee (brewed) croissants, baguette, jam, juice etc.
Hotel ideally positioned to walk to cafes, etc...
