Peace and quiet in Fours.
Thérèse and Evert Jan offer a great holiday experience. They are welcoming and have a varied cuisine. The apartment is clean and spacious. In the meantime we have celebrated a holiday with them for the third time. Our dog is also very welcome.

What a Deplorable Welcoming
The place is far from being a castle contrary to what its name might suggest. And then don't expect to live a fairy tale.
Upon arrival, the Welcoming is icy and we keep being told that we are late (even though we had warned). The place is empty, reserved only by our family for a wedding but we are only made available one room at 3pm while the others are ready (but the rule is 4pm).
Breakfast is served until 9:15 am, not another minute. The hosts refused to make my mother another coffee because it was after 9:15.
At 10:30, we are literally kicked out of our rooms, in a most unpleasant way. Knowing that we were all married the day before, and that we could not enjoy our rooms until midnight, a little flexibility would have been necessary.
And to top it all off, the hosts allow themselves to send many unpleasant emails because my 4 year old son spilled his bottle while drinking in the beds and the sheets are wet. This would be a lack of respect for the hosts, their bedding, their home.
So Madame, Monsieur, it would be appropriate to take lessons in French life skills, or to change profession, because you cannot pretend to be “chatelain” and managers of a “high-end” guest house (at 170 euros a night off season in the middle of the countryside) when you hate to receive at home so much. So I'm sorry I bothered you, I'm sorry the kids aren't welcome in your house, I'm sorry you have to go through your trade. We will not bother you again.
As for potential “customers”, I advise you to pass your road.

Au moment de votre départ, vous nous aviez pourtant chaleureusement félicités pour l'excellent séjour, le bon lit et le délicieux petit-déjeuner au soleil au bord de la piscine. Il semble que les impressions évoluent rapidement une fois de retour chez soi.
Selon nous, il ne s'agit pas d'un manque de flexibilité, mais d'attentes qui étaient peut-être un peu élevées pour une chambre d'hôtes. À l'arrivée de votre groupe de 10 personnes, vous avez vous-même mentionné que sans le mariage de votre cousin dans la région, vous n'auriez jamais visité notre coin ni séjourné ailleurs que dans un hôtel 4 étoiles minimum — de préférence 5 étoiles. Cela nous a d'emblée donné une idée assez claire de la situation : quoi que nous fassions, ce ne serait probablement jamais tout à fait suffisant.
Nous ne souhaitons pas nous attarder à réfuter votre version des faits — c'est la vôtre, et nous la respectons. Ce que nous savons, c'est que nous vous avons offert le meilleur de notre service, et même davantage. Disappointed
We rented the cottage Chevannes, it is consistent with the description made.
But when you read that the cottage depends on Château Latour, you say it's quiet. Not at all, at first it's not a castle, but the cottage (not or poorly insulated) is located 10 meters from a busy road up a hill and in a bend, you imagine?
So if you want to spend good nights quietly and rest, there are better elsewhere

Bonjour famille Clay, chère Sylviane et cher Gérard, merci pour votre avis. Nous vous avons demandé pendant votre séjour si tout s'était bien passé et vous avez confirmé avoir passé un merveilleux séjour, tant à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur de notre gîte (sur la terrasse avec de beaux couchers de soleil). Il est dommage que vous n'ayez fait part de vos inquiétudes par internet qu'après votre séjour. Notre autre gîte, situé dans le manoir (appelé Château Latour depuis 1776), était disponible et peut-être plus à votre goût. D'après les photos et la description du logement, il est clair que le gîte Chevannes est indépendant du manoir. Vous l'aviez peut-être manqué. Nous ne pouvons plus rien faire maintenant et nous en sommes sincèrement désolés. Nous espérons que Sylviane se portera mieux après sa cure de santé à Saint-Honoré-les-Bains. Half-tone experience
We shared a dinner with one of the other guests in a warm Mood
For dessert, the owner arrives with a bottle of digestive sweetly offering us a glass of plum.
We all agreed, thinking myself that the drink would be offered.
I was naive. The next day, the (small) glass was charged €4.
The next morning my wife wanted to enjoy the pool. Not in vain. A tarpaulin had been put in and the owner would not remove it to allow him to swim.
Otherwise the meal was good even if the price (€31.50 per person) seems slightly exaggerated.

Bonjour Monsieur Misson, bonjour Xavier, merci beaucoup pour votre avis. Apparemment, votre épouse Claudine était plus satisfaite de son séjour que vous, car elle avait déjà laissé un avis plus positif sur Booking.com. Concernant notre table d'hôtes, composée uniquement de produits frais et tout fait maison, vous aviez choisi de dîner chez nous (prix hors boissons connu à l'avance). Le jour où votre épouse prévoyait de se baigner, le ciel était très nuageux et la température extérieure était plutôt basse, si bien que nous n'avons vu personne se baigner et nous étions dans notre cuisine en face de la piscine à partir de 07H30 en train de préparer le petit-déjeuner pour vous et nos autres invités. Ce n'est qu'au moment de votre départ que votre épouse a mentionné vouloir faire un plongeon. Il est dommage qu'elle ne nous ait demandé de le faire qu'à votre départ (tardif), habillée pour la journée. Si elle nous avait demandé de retirer sa le bâche le matin, nous l'aurions fait avec grand plaisir. Au plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau prochainement. Deplorable customer experience
Nice setting and good breakfast, but deplorable customer experience: we had booked two nights. Two keys that were supposed to allow us to come and go were handed over to us. On the second evening, we couldn’t get to our room when we got home at 4:00 a.m.: the main door was locked and we didn’t have that key on the keychain we had to go to sleep unexpectedly with relatives when we took the car back. On the way we tried to reach the cottage, to no avail. the next day, the host criticized us for not asking about the front door. when we recalled that the day before we had returned without problem after dinner he mentioned an access rule after 11 pm never mentioned in the Welcoming Booklet. He claimed to have opened the door as soon as we called (I could not know because he had not picked up and did not call me back while I provided my phone number on arrival). As a result, he refused any commercial gesture despite the lost night and the inconvenience of staying locked outside in the middle of the night. A real lack of professionalism and empathy and especially a moonlighting practice (locking up your clients without giving them all the keys allowing them to enter or leave).

Merci Stéphanie Ropars d'avoir pris le temps d'écrire un avis, identique à celui que vous et votre ami Benjamin avez publié sur Google. Nous ne comprenons pas pourquoi vous nous accusez. Alors que lors de votre première nuit, vous êtes arrivée avant 23 h, comment aurions-nous pu savoir que la deuxième nuit, vous rentreriez à 4 h 30 ? Il est la pratique courante des clients que les clients qui arrivent en retard nous préviennent et nous demandent une clé de la porte d'entrée, que nous vous aurions volontiers donnée. Nous vous avons contactée vers minuit pour vous demander à quelle heure vous rentreriez, car nous allions nous coucher. Aucune réponse. À 4 h 30, le téléphone a sonné. Ivres de sommeil, nous sommes allés vous ouvrir la porte d'entrée. Mais vous n'avez pas eu la patience d'attendre. Personne à la porte, juste un courrier furieux nous informant que vous étiez retourné à la fête tardive à laquelle vous étiez apparemment.
