Our stay in Pays Basque

Wow, what a great stay. The host is super nice and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with homemade jam and cake. The room was super clean, with a stunning view. The Internet is fast. I can only recommend to go and see for yourselves. It is a great value for money.

Avoid!

House with a nice view but very austere and unsuitable for a 3-week spa guest stay. A dining area is mentioned but be careful, it's just a very small room open only for breakfast!
The rest of the time, you have to eat in the garden or at a restaurant because eating in the room is forbidden! No fridge provided, not even to have a cold drink!
Of course, the hostess will reply that she offers to put bottles in her fridge, or to lend ice packs...
But if you come back and she is absent, no cold water! If you are thirsty at night, no cold water! And the ice pack, I might as well tell you that it warms up in less than an hour in a non-air-conditioned room!
And all that, of course, in the middle of a heatwave!!!
I had rented for my 3-week treatment, from July 6 to July 26, 2026, I only lasted 5 days! Forced to go rent elsewhere and of course to pay again because the hostess does not feel concerned in any way by the situation!!!
I totally advise against this place, filled with negative energy due to its old-fashioned decor and the coldness of the hostess, who forces you to take off your shoes as soon as you enter.
At no point did she offer to help me carry my luggage up to the second floor where the rooms are located.
Being disabled in my hips, this was very difficult for me!
It is a great shame that the hostess, Sandrine, does not have that wonderful Basque spirit that I fortunately encountered everywhere else throughout my stay!!!

All right!

Excellent! The house Haitz Ondo is well located, in a quiet environment and the rooms are spacious and very clean (the Chilli room has a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains). Breakfast is delicious, homemade, with fresh and local products. Sandrine welcomed us very warmly and gave us good ideas to explore this region full of riches. Really, it was great and we keep a very good memory! A thousand thanks, Sandrine!

Thank you for your warm welcome, we slept really well and the children loved it. What a beautiful house and beautiful spaces.

Best place ever

We have been regular visitors to southwest France for more than 10 years and have stayed at numerous chambres d'hotes. Haitz Ondo is among the very best. A charming traditional basque house with splendid views of the village and surrounding hills. Our host Sandrine was warming welcoming and generous with assistance and with a deep knowledge of the beautiful countryside. This was "home away from home". We came for a night and stayed for five. We hope to return.
