Wonderfully friendly, authentic, and nature-focused

We ran into Paul (owner) on the side of the road at the entrance to Fare Hua Camp. We were just taking pictures, and he told us to stop in, so we did. We met Tino who runs the place. They were both so genuinely friendly, kind, and welcoming. Tino showed us around the property (next time we come, we’ll have to stay here for bungalow-camping), and he gave us a tour of their vanilla greenhouses. The experience with them learning about Taha’a, the local flora, and vanilla production made our whole day. Tino is skilled in culinary arts, so we’re dying to try some of his food.

Close to nature

Fare Hau camp offers two types of accommodation: Tahitian-style bungalows or campsites. We stayed in a bungalow nestled on the mountainside. We had a great time there. It was clean and very well equipped. Jesse and Tino’s restaurant was excellent, a shop allows you to buy local produce, vanilla produced by Paul. We highly recommend for a mature stay on a beautiful island.

Very bad experience. The worst

To strongly discourage.
Lots of mosquitoes.. way to access the gite full of holes. Breaking the car and yet the car rentals forbid us to take this kind of path

Must Visit!!!

My husband and I were staying in Taha’a for 3 nights before heading to Bora Bora. We rented a scooter on the main island and asked the gentleman who met us with the scooter where the best vanilla plantation tour would be. He said there were so many to choose from. But we asked if it were him, where would he want to go? Especially if he wanted something personal and not a big tourist attraction….Because we really wanted to see authentic processes and have a memorable experience. He recommended Fare Hau Camp. I am so glad we followed this recommendation because it was the highlight of our stay on Taha’a! Tino and Jess were so welcoming! Tino spent so much time with us showing us the vanilla plants and sharing the process for vanilla growing/harvesting. He happily answered our countless questions and allowed us to walk around the grounds to see the camp and the animals. The view was breathtaking from any of the camp sites! It’s a true island paradise! Our only regret? The cafe and boutique were cash only! We had brought with us exactly one credit card and not that many USDs for the day off of the motu where we were staying. My husband and I still, almost a month later, talk about what an amazing visit this was and how we wish we would have brought cash or our debit card to go to a local atm because we wanted to buy so many authentic items in the boutique and support this awesome establishment! Alas, we were only able to buy 2 lattes. I wish we could’ve had an alternate way to pay because we would’ve bought so many gifts!
This is a must-see stop on Taha’a even if you aren’t staying in their camp! Thank you so much for the memories, Fare Hau Camp!!!

This is a place you don’t want to miss!

This is a place you don’t want to miss! We had a incredible time at Fare Hau camp.
The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming. We first visited the beautiful Airbnb property which had just the right balance of being in nature but still self contained with a full kitchen area.
The campsite next to it is simply awesome. The central area has a fully appointed (and pretty cool!) shared kitchen with everything you could ever need - and a huge fire pit which everyone loves.
They then showed us one of the camping areas which has incredible views over the bay.
They’re aiming for full self sufficiency and was awesome to see the full farm coming together. They had cacao on site (apparently crushed up great in curries!) and ‘trees of life’ with have over 100 health benefits and the seeds kinda taste of super sweet peas!
The real highlight was the vanilla plants which were coming into their first crop after two years. They fully process the vanilla onsite and so fascinating to see the full end to end process including how they self pollinate the plants.
They also have awesome smoothies!
Can’t wait to go back - a truly beautiful place with super welcoming owners - highly recommend!
