Ohh...

So, point by point...
The first plus is for the friendly welcome on Monday evening. Charming, a bit joked together, very pleasant!
And now we have to wait a very long time for another positive event:-o
It was already dark and not immediately recognizable from the outside that the whole “hotel complex” (questionable whether one can speak of hotel and / or complex...) comes totally dismembered and my room was located in a secluded old apartment building.
First of all, I and my suitcase crisscross the grounds and across unlit gravel parking lots for several hundred meters.
Funnily enough, this is called the “parsonage”, although the term monk’s cloister is more appropriate due to the ascetic furnishings and location if we want to stick to church terms.
Thanks to sparse lighting found my room, or Kemenate, I already had a premonition of what might be in store and was accordingly not disappointed: A 70s-style room, some Biedermeier baroque and a bathroom a la greatoma. Well, the bed looked quite fine, but turned out to be a totally sloping slatted frame-mattress combination, which you could feel every night. Then there were the wönde made of cardboard mesh, through which you could hear every single heartbeat of the neighbor, or I sat vertically in bed in the morning as soon as the first guest was in the bathroom.
After the morning sport over the gravel courts and several meters of altitude then arrived at the not worth mentioning breakfast, where you were first asked quite rudely for the room number.
In the so-called rectory there is probably also a sauna in the basement. However, I didn't try these to save myself further disappointment.
The second positive point is for the extremely courteous and friendly staff in the restaurant.
But this is about accommodation!

This hotel is very beautiful, but food is very limited with little variety. The breakfast was just different types of granola, eggs, lunch meat, and rolls! No toast or pastries which was very odd. The restaurant at night offers salads, fish, and chicken all with risotto which was also bizarre since most German food comes with potatoes. Besides lacking in food choices, this hotel has tons of stairs! Be prepared to cart your luggage up and down them since there are no elevators. Very remote location with no amenities around.

Gourmet stop in the rural idyll

We received a very warm welcome. Our standard room in the old rectory was perfectly fine. The highlight: the beautiful view! Even, or especially, during a thunderstorm.
Our asparagus meal at Hermann's rounded off our short stay perfectly. Very tasty and once again a very friendly team. Thank you.

Penguins in the Sauerland

We were able to enjoy the New Year's Eve arrangement. It was very well organized, the service was courteous without being too intrusive, the reception was humorous and competent at the same time, the virtuosos in the kitchen did their best and the owner was not only the boss, she also pitched in. You just have to have been there.
Greetings from the Penguin Hats on an Aperol Spritztour from Bielefeld.
