What's not to like?

I had booked 1 night at the Essinger Hof as a staring point for a road trip that my wife, sister-in-law, and I were going to take through southern Germany. We chose this hotel over what seemed to be a very nice hotel in Regensburg, because we like the ambiance of small towns. It turned out to be the best choice. The hotel was closed when we arrived, but our keys and those of another family were taped conspicuously to the front door. Instructions were clearly written on the envelope. The room was very ample, clean, and with a porch facing the back 'yard'. Real beds too for all, no cheap cots or roll-aways! The back yard is more like the edge of the woods on the side of the mountain. Beautiful! When we woke up, a very nice breakfast awaited us. We were so charmed by the hotel, the proprietors and their young daughter, as well es the town, that we decided to stay another night. Regensburg, the spa at Bad Abbach, and Kelheim are just minutes away. We thought of staying here again on the way back to Munich, but chose another town closer to the airport for our last 2 nights. That is how much we liked it. Worth every Euro and more!

An OK hotel

We stayed in this hotel just for one night on the way back from our holiday. The hotel is in a beautiful location, ideal for bikers or hikers. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished, the beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom came as a big surprise contrasting with a nice room. The tiles did not look clean and the shower cubicle could do with a thorough cleaning. What a shame! We had room 30 overlooking the beer garden and a busy road.Fortunately the noise from the road died down toward the night.The buffet breakfast was delicious served in a nice restaurant on the groundfloor. The choice was wide to please everybody. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Excellent stay!

We stood at Essinger Hof for two nights last Easter weekend and I must say this experience was fantastic.
The room was large, very clean and with a stunning view on the woods just behind the hotel, in addition the staff has been really friendly and their hospitality was absolutely amazing (they even gave us a garage to store our motorcycle safely at night)
The dinner was excellent, while the breakfast takes place inside a large and very nice traditionally Bavarian room with a wide choice of excellent food and beverages.
I recommend Essinger Hof as a must-stay hotel to all the travellers in this area of Bavaria, we've been really happy and satisfied at 100% with our choice.

What a Beautiful Room and Quaint Area!

This was one of those "steals" you always hope to get. The room was beautiful (so new you could smell the pine wood furniture) with a fantastic view of the mist creeping down the wooded hills. Beautiful area here and I was all over Bavaria. Highly recommended. Staff were great. Also recommend Landgasthof zur Post in Heiligenberg.

Schönes Altmühltal

Wir hatten ein superior Zimmer, mit Blick zur Blautopfquelle, sauber, großzügig und gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war reichlich und gut, Abendessen war auch reichlich und gut. Der Essenssaal war ungemütlich, der Aussenbereich könnte viel gepflegter sein. Im Aufzug roch es stark nach Muff.
