With fine enjoyment into the New Year 2026.
A fine sauna world with a very nice exercise pool at over 30’ A highlight was the New Year’s Eve menu in the hotel’s star-studded restaurant. Everything in the best quality and just cooked very tasty. 6 gears in a good 4 hours were a lot of fun.
That's when the New Year's Eve fireworks could come from the hotel. Thanks for the good start to the new year 2026

Excellent hotel - but here and there with some “air up”
The picturesque ensemble of buildings on the historic Frankenberg market square already appeals from the outside. Inside, the hotel impresses in all areas with high-quality furnishings and stylish decoration.
We arrived already in the morning, so the room was not ready for occupancy when we checked in. We therefore left our suitcase at the reception. I would have actually expected that (as is usually the case in houses of comparable category) the luggage would be brought to the room without being asked as soon as it was fixed up. However, we had to take care of the luggage ourselves.
Our superior room proved to be spacious, bright and furnished with quality furniture very stylish. Comfortable bed with good pillows, two armchairs with side table, small writing facility with stool, plenty of storage space in two wardrobes, small balcony with beautiful views of the marketplace.
Amazing for this category was that neither coffee machine nor minibar were available. We also searched in vain for a welcome greeting such as chocolates or similar. After all, a bottle of mineral water was provided daily.
Great large daylight bathroom with double vanity, floor-to-ceiling shower and separate toilet cubicle. Hair dryer rather weak. Entertainment and cleaning condition of the bathroom as well as the bedroom exemplary.
At breakfast on the first and partly on the second morning, however, some shortcomings emerged that should not occur in this segment. We were neither greeted on entering the breakfast room nor farewelled on leaving. Egg dishes were not actively offered, no further drink requests were asked despite emptied cups. The fish and sausage platters were heavily “flirted” despite very small numbers of guests and were only filled and straightened after a long time. My question about freshly prepared pancakes, certainly not a particularly unusual craving in the quality hotel industry, was negatively answered to the effect that this “is not worth it during the week because of the low number of guests”. This is certainly not an appropriate response to a guest request that can be fulfilled with little effort.
On the third and fourth mornings, another employee was on duty and the overall service level was significantly better.
The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of high-quality smoked fish, delicious regional sausage and cheese products and fresh fruit. Bread and rolls were fresh, crisp and very tasty. However, only mini croissants and pain au chocolate were available for sweets, which seemed more like baked industrial goods to me. We would have expected, for example, homemade cakes or a selection of delicious sweet particles.
Negatively, during our four-day stay it was also noticeable that the breakfast offer was exactly the same every morning. Here the kitchen absolutely needs to be more creative and offer the guest more variety.
The evening five-course menu at Philipp Soldan was exquisite in every respect and worth its price. Taste, presentation and Service as well as the atmosphere in the restaurant were perfect. The wine accompaniment was excellently matched to the menu sequence.
We did not use the spa offer.
