Comfortable box spring beds and good food

High-quality food, large portions, in a very pleasant atmosphere. Attractive hotel centrally located in the small town of Haltern.
I accompanied my husband on his business trip. Our room was clean and spacious. There is no elevator in the building, which was not a problem for us, but may be important for some. We enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffet together. There was nothing to be desired. I tried the lunch menu alone and was delighted with the value for money. There were 4 different dishes, each of which included a soup of the day and a dessert. We only had dinner once. Our dishes were very nicely presented and were large portions. I couldn't finish mine, although I really enjoyed it.
The hotel is in the middle of town, I could go shopping and take a walk. A little further away, easily accessible by car, bus or bike, is Lake Haltern and is worth a trip. It was a bit cold at the time of our visit, but there is also a lovely hotel/restaurant outdoor terrace. There are parking spaces right outside the door.

Night check-in impossible

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was a disappointment. We had booked an overnight stay as a surprise for the bride and groom to make their wedding night especially beautiful. Four days before the stay, I called again to make sure everything worked out smoothly. We were given an access code by telephone, which was supposed to allow night access to the hotel via the side entrance.
However, when we arrived with the bride and groom at 3am, there was no way to enter the code – no display, no way to enter. After several futile calls to the given mobile number we finally succeeded after about 10 minutes and the owner answered the phone. He annoyed us if we couldn't see a display, and then came down himself to open the door and turn on the power. Only then did the display appear and the code could be entered.
It was an annoying experience: It was cold, and the bride and groom had to wait unnecessarily long outside in their wedding outfit. The owner simply said that an employee had probably turned off the power, which are mistakes that can happen. Unfortunately, however, there was no excuse whatsoever. He didn't even think it necessary to congratulate the bride and groom!!!!
This hotel I can therefore not recommend and will not book it again.

Saturday peak nights displays weekday nights.

At many we times tried to reserve a room for a week or longer; always sold out on Saturday, possibly also on Friday .
It is recommended to apply basic revenue management and keep some weekend rooms for longer staying guests.
This worked in the past, but it seems not possible with the new management.

Once and never again

We relied on the previous reviews and booked the Hotel am Turm in Haltern for three nights over Pentecost 2024. It quickly became clear to us that the previous reviews for both the hotel and the restaurant were incorrect. The price-performance ratio just doesn't match, €129 per night for a small double room with many defects (e.g. mismatched toilet lid, dismantled soap dispenser, loose shower partition, very soft mattresses, no intermediate cleaning, etc.) annoyed us. The first evening in the restaurant was also disappointing, the asparagus was a disgrace and of inferior quality. We ate much better in Haltern the other two evenings. It suits this hotel in Münsterland that the bikes are unprotected in an open garage courtyard, not to mention charging options outside the room. For us it is clear: once and never again!

Perfect For Our Short Stay!

We were visiting friends in the area and stayed at the Am Turm for 3 nights at the beginning of April. The hotel is in a great location to explore the local area and not too far from the beautiful lake.
Our room was spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and had plenty of towels in the small bathroom. Breakfast was adequate for our needs and coffee was plentiful. The staff were lovely and very helpful but their English was limited but this wasn't an issue as we had Google translate on hand to help us out! The restaurant was busy for lunch and evening meals while we were there and the food looked very good.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area and is good value for money. We have already booked again for July!
