Very good hotel with a good price-performance ratio.

I had planned a short trip to the Palatinate with my motorcycle over Corpus Christi and chose the Krone because of the good reviews and its ideal location to northern Alsace and the Palatinate Forest for 3 nights.
Even though various areas of the hotel are somewhat older, they had a nice, dignified charm for me. My Classic double room and the bathroom were a bit small, but very clean. I found the bed to be very comfortable; in any case, I slept very well.
The outstanding breakfast buffet and the restaurant "Pfälzer Stuben" are worth mentioning. The latter is in the higher price segment, but justifies the prices with very good dishes and consistently friendly and professional service.
Overall, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would also like to highlight the large covered terrace where breakfast could be enjoyed and the very nice wellness area.
Three things would please me on a next visit: Glasses instead of plastic cups for the juices and porcelain cups instead of IKEA mugs for the cappuccino at breakfast, and for the balcony, cushions for the wooden chairs.
All in all, a very pleasant stay; I will definitely return!

Not a 4-star standard

Unfortunately, our stay did not meet the expectations for a 4-star hotel.
At check-in, the room was not ready. Only after asking several times and receiving conflicting statements did we get the honest information that they were behind schedule and the rooms would be available later (over 1 hour) than guaranteed. The reception staff seemed clearly overwhelmed and irritable.
The room furnishings are overall dated and do not match the pictures of the Classic room. The hallways and stairs also look unkempt – the carpet is heavily worn. The rooms themselves look partially poorly renovated. After we asked at the reception why the room did not match the depiction on the website, we were only offered a free departure in a very curt manner.
The cleaning was still okay upon arrival, but it declined during the stay. Furthermore, there is no air conditioning.
The spa area also lacks cleanliness and attention. It was not cleaned during the day, used cups piled up, and fresh cups were not replenished. For day spa guests, there were no prepared spa bags despite prior registration. Upon inquiry, the only response was that they had to "take a quick look through the rooms" to see if any were still available.
The indoor relaxation area is also disappointing: Loungers are only available by the pool, otherwise there are only benches and a few sofa elements.
Particularly critical: The playroom does not seem safe. Cables were sticking out of the wall – especially in an area intended for children, something like this is in our view absolutely unacceptable.
The breakfast generally offers a good selection, however there is only one coffee machine and no coffee service at the table. There is also a lack of smooth service here.
The parking lot is very full. Overall, in our view, there is a lack of service orientation, warmth, and above all, attention to detail.
A positive point to highlight is the dinner – this was really very good and a clear bright spot, although the service was overwhelmed here too.
Overall, we expected significantly more. For us, the hotel does not meet the standard we expect from a 4-star superior hotel in several areas such as cleanliness, service, and safety - unfortunately, this was a recurring theme throughout the entire stay. We had a good stay because we took many things into our own hands, such as taking cups from the breakfast area to the spa.

Relaxing short break with room for improvement

Our stay at the Hotel Krone in Hayna was nice overall, but unfortunately had some points that clouded the impression a bit.
Already at the reception it was noticed that the receptionist was not particularly friendly at first – actually a moment when the short break should start directly positive. Only on the way to the room, when she explained everything to us, she became much more accessible.
The room seemed a bit stale. Although everything was available, however, the cleanliness left much to be desired in some places. Even the mattresses were too soft for our taste. For a booked comfort room in a 4-star hotel, we are honestly used to something different here.
Positively noteworthy is definitely the wellness area – this was really excellent. There was a sauna, herbal sauna, salt cave and steam bath. In addition, an indoor pool and a hot tub were available, although we did not use the latter due to the very warm temperatures in the hall. The heated outdoor pool (about 28 degrees) was also very pleasant.
However, it was very uneasy in the outdoor area: Many children romped, jumped from the pool edge and made sure that relaxed swimming was unfortunately not possible. For a wellness hotel we would have liked much more peace here. We also found the behaviour of some parents a pity in this context. We have children of our own, but it is in such an area that we should pay attention to consideration and calm.
In the sauna area there were unfortunately only a few loungers, but more seating. Positive was the free supply of water, tea and dried fruit and nuts. However, there is room for improvement in the shower area – there was a lot of water collecting on the floor, some of which ran through the entire sauna area. A puller or regular cleaning would be useful here.
The breakfast buffet was rich and very tasty. One downside, however, was the table organization: Many tables were reserved, but apparently not for all guests equally. We first had to walk around and find that no table was provided for us. The breakfast staff was friendly, but it was negatively noticeable that the crumbs were simply wiped on the floor by hand when they were being cleared – not up to the standard you would expect in an upscale hotel.
Restaurant and bar we did not use during our stay.

Too bad, it could have been very good!

Among the positive points: very beautiful hotel with great amenities, especially the pools and the sauna area, the breakfast, and its staff.
For the rest….no air conditioning and it was a problem upon our arrival, it was stifling in the room. We had the room closest to the road and since we had to leave the window open so as not to suffocate, the noise was a real problem.
I am attaching a photo of the landing in front of our room upon our arrival. When you are a hotel of this class, you do not make this type of mistake when your guests arrive.
I asked to have another room because of its location near the road, which was refused. I can understand the 1st night so as not to disrupt the organization, but since we were staying 3 nights, no effort was made to satisfy us.
We tried the restaurant the 1st evening, you have to be very, very patient…. 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our dish after ordering.
We are going to try to remember the best parts for the discovery of this very beautiful region.

Very good stop on our bike tour - unfortunately only for one night

Room a bit old, but very clean. Indoor pool, outdoor pool garage for bicycles and nice staff. Especially because of the great eaters we will definitely come back. Maybe next time we go golfing.

Very good location
