I attend the UN Climate meetings in Bonn each year, and have stayed in Bonn and in small towns on both sides of the Rhein, to the south of the city. All places except one have been satisfactory, but this one stands out as special. The aesthetics are simple but pleasing. My room was spacious, especially the bathroom, though this is a renovation project and all rooms may not all be cut to the same size and shape. Everything worked. Even with a shared inner courtyard where neighboring voices could sometimes be heard, the place was still and quiet. It is a short walk to the regional train stop with good service to Bonn. The town truly features the river, and the meaning of it is present to take-in, not by explanation but by what you can see for yourself and the way people are using it in their lives.
I'm sure many have said the breakfast is wonderful. But you need to experience that for yourself. I am reluctant to praise this place as much as it deserves, because I would like to return and hope rooms will be available and at the very reasonable price.

This is a nice little hotel. Perfect spot for those visiting the town and castle! We were treated promptly and we're well taken care of from getting our bags to the room, to dinner and breakfast recommendations and local sites to see!

If the hustle & bustle of busy Cologne gets to be too much, the lovely town of Königswinter on the banks of the Rhine may prove a relaxing alternative. Das Hotel Krone is in the centre of town about a 5 minute walk from the train station. I’ve stayed here before and been very happy. But, it’s under new management/ownership now and the quality of the experience has increased a lot. The place is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are wonderful.

Extraordinary service in a unique hotel

Very highly recommended! The Hotel Krone is an exceptional boutique hotel. Our stay was memorable for multiple reasons: elegant yet charming, this hotel is in a quiet central location with spacious, clean and well appointed single rooms with large and comfortable beds. The breakfast is scrumptious and filling, with a variety of lovingly created home made dishes and additional (included) orderable options. The extraordinary service and genuine kindness were a highlight, ranging from refreshments upon arrival to immediate practical help with parking and luggage. We also received timely information about sights in the area, so that we could make the most of our short stay. The cable car (in walking distance) goes to a fairy tale castle on the historic Drachenfels mountain with its gorgeous views, gardens, and interesting interior. Das Hotel Krone is a short, beautiful drive away from major freeways and situated in right in the center of the historic Rhine river town of Königswinter. This hotel has it all: it provides a rare experience and is not to be missed. I hope to return!
