Lovely Welcome at a Great Location

Part of the reason for choosing Pension Locarno was for the location. It is right next to the Hauptbahnhof. I arrived by train and left by train so it was perfect from that point of view.
I arrived in Munich at 12:30 and headed for the hotel. I wanted to drop off my bag. When I arrived I pressed the buzzer and was let in. There is a few flights of stairs as well as a lift to take you to the third and fourth floors where the hotel is located.
I spoke to a very friendly gentleman when I arrived and he said that my room was ready so I could put my things in there straight away which was wonderful. My room was on the fourth floor and I had a shared bathroom. My room was clean and well presented and had everything I needed and expected.
I got my things sorted out and went out into Munich to explore the city. After all my exploration I got back at about 9:30pm and went to my room. I would suggest shutting the window to drown out the sound of the trams passing. I slept really well and woke at a reasonable hour.
Once I had got ready for the day I checked out and dropped off my bag with the lady at reception so I could continue to take in Munich before my departure from the city.
I returned a few hours later and my bag was where I had left it and the lady happily returned it to me.
The people at the hotel were so friendly and I would definitely recommend staying there for a convenient visit if you want something reasonably priced and clean.

Bad pension

I accept a lot for the price.Old furniture, shower and toilet in the hallway...., but in the first room the TV did not go at all and in the second we only got one channel in .That can at least be expected for what I pay,never again

Would not stay here again

The pros: hotel is within 10 mins walk to the main bus terminal, transit is outside the front door, many restaurants near by, triple room has a door separating the beds, small table and two chairs, 3 instant coffees included. No AC but a fan and window in each room. It’s old but the cleaner does a good job, lots of storage for clothes.
The cons: the neighbourhood did not feel safe, many transients around at all hours of the day / night, to access the hotel you have to walk in a side entrance that smelled of urine, checked into without showing any ID, hotel issues keys for the rooms, same key for main door and room, which leads to believe the keys aren’t different, door had a hole in it, walls covered in stains.
There is no way to indicate your don’t want your room cleaned, and frankly it doesn’t look like a place that will offer daily cleaning, however, when we returned after a day out, the cleaner had been in and folded our bedding - FYI.

Worn out, but on the whole okay

You can't expect a luxury hotel at this price, but a little more care would still be appropriate. Everything very worn out, takes getting used to the used bathing slippers in the room, which are apparently standard. Unfortunately no Mglkt to purchase drinks despite 24h reception.

Not bad, but only with low expectations.

I was here with one of my acquaintances in August. At that time the weather and temperature was terrible and there wasn’t any air conditioner in the room, only a fan. You could open windows but you could only hear the sounds of the trains - because this place is next to the train station. There was only one bathroom, but it was also in the corridor, so if you wanted to go to take a shower or go to the toilet you had to wait for somebody to come out.
All things considered, it is a good place if you have low expectations.
