We would love to come back

We were again a guest in the Sonnenklause and can highly recommend this family-run mountain hotel. We were welcomed very friendly and felt very comfortable again. Here you will find peace and relaxation. After a day of hiking we could relax in the sauna. The creative herbal cuisine was a very tasty surprise every night.
Many thanks to the whole team

The guest is not "king" here

The house is more of a hostel than a hotel-restaurant, at least in terms of organizational conditions. I felt patronized and as a guest reduced to my purpose to ensure the hotel only sales and cost reductions. A minimum stay of 5 nights is expected. Free cancellation is virtually impossible. It is recommended to take out a travel cancellation insurance for a fee. Every morning, even before breakfast, you are encouraged to indicate until 17.00h whether you want to eat in the evening or not. Then dinner must be ordered until 7pm, otherwise the kitchen is closed. On Mondays there is only one menu, which is then to be taken until 6.30pm and should be taken with the other guests if possible at a table. The daughter of the house acts as a receptionist and as a waitress in the restaurant. She only walks barefoot around the house and also serves dinner in the restaurant only barefoot , in the same room that dogs are allowed to use. The table selection is predetermined. Even with coffee, which you have to get yourself, it is indicated which cup size to use. Mobile phone reception barely available. The internet in the room is not stable.

Better just have a drink.

We had stopped for dinner after a hike. The situation raised expectations, the many positive reviews also increased our anticipation.
The service was friendly and prompt.
The food was not to our taste. It had an immense flavor enhancer taste. After that, all four of us were busy with dry mouth, aftertaste and immensely frequent “peasants”. We were very disappointed and wished we had just had a drink.

Too expensive

Towels totally scratchy breakfast does not go at all for the prices only minimal baked-on rolls these are rock hard, gives no scrambled eggs fried fruit salad....
No pads for deck chair in swimming pool relaxation room.
Rooms are very noisy you can hear everyone sneezing.

Great location, very cozy and family-run hotel

This was the second time I've stayed at the Sonnenklause for 10 days.
Why this repeat act?
1) The great location, although a little remote, you soon come to appreciate the isolation and peace. This way you can quickly forget everyday life and slow down.
2) The family-run hotel, which makes your stay as pleasant as possible, the cozy ambience that can be found everywhere,
whether in the rooms or in the guest rooms.
The swimming pool and sauna also contribute to relaxation after
a mountain hike.
3) The very good food, with lots of fresh herbs that can stimulate and surprise your taste buds
every day.
4) The breakfast offers a good selection, including various rolls,
homemade bread, homemade jams, yogurt, quark, milk,
honey, sausage and cheese from local producers.
Pastries, muesli, fresh fruit and boiled eggs (scrambled or fried eggs
on request, freshly prepared) nut-nougat cream round off the extensive
offer.
On the terrace you can enjoy the wonderful view of the mountains opposite
(Hörnerkette) as far as the Kleinwalsertal with a cold drink.
Highly recommended:
- every Monday: nettle cheese spaetzle meal
- every Tuesday: the herb tour with the chef through
the herb garden followed by a herb menu.
Note:
The hotel is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays
(catering only for hotel guests)
Thirsty hikers can still refresh themselves with chilled drinks from the
water tub (payment on a trust basis)
All of this made/makes me a repeat offender.
The next stay in the Sonnenklause is already being planned.
