During fair times definitely overpriced
During fairs and other events in the Cologne area this hotel might constitute a cheap alternative, yet it is still way overpriced. Actually the only advantage is that staff is fairly friendly. The rooms are very oldfashioned and worn down. The hotel itself is located rather off the town - nearest public transport is a 20 min walk away. Although they pride themselves for the WiFi it kept disconnecting and had a very limited bandwith. Also, contrary to what it says in the description, they do not offer an airport transfer. Please do also note that reception is only staffed until 9pm. This furthermore indicates that apparently there is no staff on site during the night which is rather frightening at this location.

Tired and in need of a refresh
The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is tired and in need of a refresh and the room itself was really small and very basic. The tv didn't have a signal. The bathroom was clean but tiny. Appreciate that they were able to charge over 200 euro's because of an exhibition for Cologne but that really made the experience so much worst. Felt like I was being ripped off. If they had charged a sensible price, I would consider using it again, but now I wouldn't on principle.

wald hotel the real deal
stayed 1 nite in the wald hotel as the others were out of range in price

- chinese restaurant built in onthe ground floor - can be noisy
- room rate doesnt include breakfast...
- rooms are decorated year 2000 style each room with a different decor
- staff friendly and helpful

- about 2 km from the town center

A different opinion
Some time ago, after reading all the positive reviews of this hotel, I decided to book it for a business trip to Troisdorf.
To be very honest, the owners are very friendly and helpful, but the room left a lot to be desired. The room was in dire need of renovation and not terribly clean. I was two nights there and after the first night they did not replace the towels which, considered that the bathroom was very small and without ventilation, were quite damp and cold. The "super fast" WiFi promised on the hotel's web site was everything apart from "super fast". In the end I used my phone as a hotspot.
I never went back and I cannot personally suggest it.
