The hotel building was acceptable, but the lower ranking is due to the location of the hotel in the city. The neighborhood is not a good area where I would walk around by myself, and I am traveling solo. I hadn’t been in this part of Athens before, so I didn’t know the area has lots of graffiti, many vancant buildings, and drugs being used on the street. When the taxi driver dropped me off at the hotel, he warned me to not go out by myself; he recommended ordering food to be delivered to the hotel. He didn’t even advise my going out during the day. When I asked the front desk person if the area was safe, he answered “Yes!” resoundingly, contrary to what I could see and feel for myself. My room had a balcony overlooking the street. I love hotel balconies and am willing to pay a few more euros to have one, but the street was decrepit so there really wasn’t
anything to see or enjoy - disappointing. The breakfast offered by the hotel was meager. The hotel lobby was being renovated when I was there, so it’s definitely becoming a nicer. If the building could be picked up and placed in a different part of town, I would have given it a higher ranking.

Unbearable hostel

I do not recommend this hostel at all. The staff was great when you check in however, when the children arrived, everybody seemed to not care one bit. I have complained, I have sent emails. I have done everything humanly possible to tell them that enough is enough. these kids are screaming, running up and down the stairs until all hours of the morning and the night it’s unbearable. This is a horrible horrible place. The location is very sketchy.

The bed was comfortable and everything worked. We appreciated that they allowed us to change the date of our stay because the site had booked a day later as our arrival. The shower pan needs a thorough cleaning as pink algae was growing on the grout. They appeared to be working on a number of issues at the entrance. If you are looking for a basic place to stay, then this will work. If you want more, then look elsewhere. This is basically a hostel.

The room: This place is rough. The room has a stiff bed, toilet, shower, and a chair - that's it. It's all clean and very old. This place is LOUD 24 hrs/day - you can hear people in the lobby 3 stories down, people in the next room talking and kids running around, the cleaning ladies yelling down the halls. It sounded like there was someone in my room yelling at me all night.
The hotel: has a helpful person at the desk 24/7 to open the door and help, which is nice. It's very central, 15 mins walk to the tourist spots, good restaurants around, but be aware this hotel is in the back streets of Athens which are sketchy as (not the hotels fault.
The breakfast: I paid extra ($29) for breakfast included. When we went to ask for it, they asked us to pay for it, and I said it was included, and the chef looked confused. It was a black coffee/tea, an unopened tin of milk, some sliced bread and a tub of jam and butter. As we finished, another lady said "you pay now?!" and I showed them my booking and said no. Then I came back to the hotel that night and the desk lady said 'You need to pay for breakfast!". It was so unpleasant being harassed about this, for such a basic breakfast, we skipped it on the next day.
We stayed 2 nights for $100/night just as a place to sleep and get breakfast before we flew out. It was so loud and uncomfortable, and the staff so aggressive about a rubbish breakfast, that we didn't even get that. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, sorry.
