Beautiful Hotel

Travelled as a family of 3 adults with Jet 2. We were first drop off from airport.
On arrival we felt very welcomed with the thoughtful touches like cold face cloth and welcome drinks. The receptionist escorted us to our room and explained the layout of hotel and room instructions for air on etc.and hotel app. The app is good for booking restaurants and shuttle bus.
The room- clean- not the biggest hotel room but it was fine. I had read on previous reviews about storage. I took travel coat hangers from so we had plenty of hanging space but personally I'm not a fan of clothing being on view, but more hotels are favouring this style. It just feels cluttered. But that's just my opinion.
Tea coffee etc but no milk but you can always ask at the bar or restaurant and keep it in your fridge.
The food - Buffet - the theme of food is displayed in the lift. I thought the buffet food was good and always plenty of choices. I have read other reviews saying food can be cold but we didn't experience this. We really enjoyed it
We reserved the specialist restaurants on arrival and didn't have an issue getting a reservation on the app. We enjoyed the experience of the tasting menu it's a concept I haven't experienced but with not being a lover of fish at the beach front I didn't feel I could truly appreciate it, but that's just my personal preference. I do prefer a menu to choose from. Having said that the location of both specialist restaurants is beautiful.
Entertainment area - found staff so friendly and they work so hard, never had a problem waiting to be served and always with a smile. It does get busy but we noticed staff moving seating from the restaurant so just ask if you can't find a table. The entertainment is fine, good atmosphere and fun - the disco was a good night.
Location - I knew it was isolated but the shuttle bus organised by the hotel is fantastic. You can book on the app but the app doesn't detail you have to go to reception to buy your tickets. On the app it suggests you can charge to your room.
Sun beds - this is something that really annoys me - reserving sun beds really brings the selfishness out in people. I reserved beds on the beach or pool area when I was ready. I am an early riser and at 8 am sun beds reserved in the better areas with no one in sight. You really don't need to do this. Full rows of beds at the front no one there. Then they would show up at half ten at the earliest and later. You are the problem and if everyone behaved the same this is what causes issues for a more considerate guest. Honestly this hotel is good for sun beds you don't need to stress. I loved the fact this hotel had a private beach or pool to choose from total relaxation and the sea is so beautiful to swim in and take in the views with a scrumptious cocktail.
We used the beach fast food a couple of times and we enjoyed it but preferred the buffet because of the choices.
I booked this hotel over a year ago when it had issues with a sickness bug, and when the quiet pool was adult only. I did contemplate change but I'm happy I didn't. The main reason is the manager - always seemed to take constructive criticism well and I trusted things would improve and they have. I do however feel I would have appreciated a pool without children, mine are adults and it would have been lovely to have an area that had a more chilled vibe without being splashed and balls flying past as you tried to swim.
Overall we had the best time at this hotel and we have come away feeling totally relaxed. Thank you

Serious security breach

The Valmar hotel is definitely not a 5* both myself and my partner had a sickness bug and we was not the only people with the bug the food was always at best Luke warm but mostly cold we were told it was because of the air conditioning in the kitchen (really), Our room smelt of vile sewage and we asked to move rooms as this was making us nauseas again not much from the hotel staff who sent a cleaner to empty bins and change towels this was not the issue we did change rooms and on our last night we were asleep in the room at 01:15 a random person came into our room they had the door access pass we were shocked and shaken again the hotel apologised but this was a serious breach of security so in a nutshell we would not return to this hotel we are currently dealing with ABTA and Jet 2 in regards to this serious breach.

Amazing !

Just got back from an amazing holiday in Corfu at the Valmar. Everything was perfect special shout out to Konstantina in reception who helped with any questions and George the buggy driver who made our evenings back to the room a fun adventure which our daughter loved ( and us )! All staff from reception to bar and restaurant staff were lovely but they stood out alongside the entertainment team! Thanks again see you again soon !

Fantastic holiday. Amazing staff and food!

Just returned from a 10 night stay and we absolutely loved it. We were a little apprehensive because of some reviews but we were blown away by the service and standard of the food and drinks. The setting is stunning and the hotel is immaculately clean with staff always clearing away glasses. Unlike other AI’s we have done in the past (including other 5*) there were always sunbeds available when we went to the beach or one of the pools after breakfast. Everything could be done at a leisurely pace, no early morning dashes for sunbeds, no queues at meal times or at the bar in fact most drinks were table service and they were quick! The only area that could be improved, in our opinion, would be the evening entertainment. There were a few good nights but others really not so good. This didn’t spoil the holiday at all though and we would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.

Not a 5* hotel

This is really not a 5* hotel.
The triple sea front room away from the main building was not at all luxurious and very noisy, with very loud disco music coming from the roof top bar two nights in the week. This continued until 11.20pm meaning children were unable to get to sleep and the staff would not turn it down despite multiple complaints.
There were insufficient sun beds at the quiet pool and beach, people started reserving them before 7am. The children’s pool was incredibly noisy. There was often a smell of sewage.
The food was mediocre. The specialist restaurants only served the same ‘tasting menu’ each night, the fish was overcooked and they were not worth re visiting.
Our table in the main buffet restaurant was given away on one occasion when we were collecting our food.
The service was generally poor and when our child got lost the concierge, Gianni, did not help him at all. Thank you to the receptionist who did.
There were quite a few staff from the Philippines who were friendly in contrast to the Greek staff.
We would not recommend this hotel at all.
