Emerald hotel

I had a great time. You'll get used to the planes. It is all just a little smaller than the pictures on the site suggest, but the atmosphere is top notch. Clean hotel. Very nice staff at the reception and in the service. Fine restaurants in Kremasti. Lovely sunbeds on the beach. Bring water shoes. Or rent a car and drive to the east coast.

Disappointing beds, but a decent budget base for exploring Rhodes

We stayed at Emerald Hotel knowing it is a budget-friendly 3-star hotel, so our expectations were realistic. For the price, some compromises are understandable, but there are a few things that really need improvement.
The biggest disappointment was the beds. The spring mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and every movement woke us up during the night. After a week, we definitely felt the lack of good sleep. The bathroom wasn’t much better. The shower is in the bathtub and the water pressure was very weak, making showering take much longer than it should.
The rooms and public areas were cleaned well every day, which we appreciated. The staff were reasonably friendly, although service felt inconsistent. They seemed to be working very long days and interactions were often functional rather than welcoming. We rarely felt any genuine hospitality or personal attention.
One thing that stood out was the large number of Dutch families with young children. If you’re looking for peace and quiet around the pool, this probably isn’t the right place. There was a lot of noise and shouting throughout the day.
The hotel does make an effort to entertain guests with activities such as a Greek Night, live music and themed evenings. We only had dinner during the Greek Night buffet, which was perfectly acceptable but fairly standard. The regular restaurant menu didn’t really appeal to us, and the atmosphere created by the staff didn’t encourage us to dine there on other evenings.
A tip for future guests: the air conditioning is definitely worth paying for. It costs around €10 per day and is almost essential during the summer. However, don’t expect too much from it. In our two-room apartment it simply wasn’t powerful enough to cool the entire apartment, so the bedroom remained quite warm during the night.
The nearby beach is convenient, but don’t expect anything spectacular. The hotel’s biggest strength is its location as a base for exploring Rhodes. Renting a car is highly recommended, as you’ll discover much more beautiful beaches, villages and restaurants across the island.
Overall, Emerald is an acceptable choice if you’re travelling on a budget and mainly need a place to sleep. However, even at this price point, better beds, a proper shower and a more effective air conditioning system should be expected. Those shortcomings significantly affected our overall experience.

Great hotel close to beach

Maria at reception is the heart of the hotel. You will immediately be met with warmth and this hotel is highly recommended. Flights travel regularly over cremation but did not disturb us. Great location to shops, restaurants and a short walk to kremasti beach. Shopping for food is done in the super markt which is a few minutes away and is a big store that has everything you could wish for.

Friendly, no frills relaxing hol.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff are lovely and the hotel, pool area and rooms are kept very clean. Everyone works so hard and the service is great.
I was a little disappointed with the rooms. Although clean and spacious, they were a bit outdated and the cooking facilities are very minimal…however we really only used the rooms as a base to sleep. We had a late flight on our last day and were able to book a room to use for the day to shower etc and this was more modern so I think it depends where you are put.
Lovely restaurants nearby. Beach very close with beautiful sunsets.
Food at hotel was nice.
20-25 mins in a taxi to Rhodes town for approx 25 euros. Or buses from nearby too (we didn’t use them)
If you are after a friendly, relaxed and no frills holiday, this is perfect.

Awful hotel.

If you're thinking of booking this hotel: don't. This is without a doubt the worst accommodations we have ever stayed in.
Upon arrival it soon became apparent that the accommodation is heavily overdue. Everything was worn out, used up or literally almost fell apart. The stove was broken, the shower gave no more than a measly trickle and in the kitchen was not even hot water. There was also no dish brush or tea towel present. When we reported this, we were told to buy it ourselves. Incomprehensible.
If that wasn't enough, there were cockroaches running around too. That is really unacceptable to us.
We were additionally assigned an apartment right next to the bar. Several nights a week there was live music (which unfortunately was anything but pleasant) and football matches were broadcast. The noise continued every night until about midnight. As if that wasn’t enough, the staff then started building up breakfast every morning around 7am, including lots of shouting and noise. A good night's sleep was therefore impossible, especially with a child of 5 years.
Moreover, the living room had no window whatsoever, so you sat in a dark room all day. The air conditioning also had to be paid an extra €100, which is really absurd given the condition of the accommodation.
Most worryingly, we found that the cleaning left the door open daily after they had been. As a result, our belongings lay unattended for hours and there was no sense of security at all.
For us this was absolutely not a relaxing holiday. The price is disproportionate to what you get. There are undoubtedly many better accommodations to be found. Save yourself the disappointment and book something else.
