Good but points of interest
We stayed 1 week in Arion hotel. Here is our feedback:
Positive:
- beautiful view
- you can have breakfast outside with beautiful views
- good pool with different depths
- refrigerator in room
- air conditioning works well but quite old
- clean because polished every day
- eggs that were freshly prepared
- friendly people at evening bar
Points of improvement:
- dinner is definitely not recommended. Limited starters and desserts. Main courses not very good either. Here they can greatly improve
- breakfast: croissants tasty but rest of bread was hard. Limited amount of fruit. No fresh fruit juice! Person who made eggs, was a very gruff person and totally unfriendly. Also a pity that you could not get ham / cheese / mushrooms,...
- they are very strict in terms of hours. Would be good if both breakfast and dinner were open half an hour longer
- not ok that children constantly dived/jumped into pool. Diving is not allowed but was still done without any comment
- not ok that you have to pay extra for a (small!) safe and towels at pool
- rooms outdated. May you feel free to refresh yourself
- bathroom basic: not pleasant to have shower with shower curtain and hair dryer with hose, no longer of this time
- pool lights: some don't work, others are both yellow and white light which is not pretty
- too bad you have to leave room at 11am
- persons at reception: lady in the morning very friendly but lady in the afternoon with glasses not friendly at all! You felt no hospitality here
- no water in room
- pity there is no animation in hotel. There is, however, the place for it. For example, a Greek evening with dancers.

Good but...
We stayed two people at Arrion in Samos for 7 nights (1-8) and our experience had several fluctuations. There were things we really appreciated, but there were also some points that really disappointed us.
On the positive side, I will start with the cleanliness, because it was probably the best part of our stay. A big bravo to the ladies of cleanliness. Every day our room was clean, careful and clean. You walked into the room and you really felt that it was carefully taken care of. We had absolutely no problems in this area.
The hotel has an old, vintage character. It may not be a modern hotel, but personally I do not think that this is necessarily a disadvantage. The room, by the way, we used it mainly to sleep and to leave our personal belongings, so for our needs it was sufficient.
In the negative, unfortunately, there are quite a few more to mention.
The most important thing for us was the food. There the experience was really disappointing. Both in the morning and in the evening there were several times food that gave us the impression that it was not as fresh as it should be. In some cases this was apparent from the smell, but mostly from the taste. We did not expect a culinary experience from a hotel, but we expected a food that was careful, fresh and pleasant. Unfortunately, we did not feel this constantly during our stay.
Moreover, the policy on beverages has left us a very negative impression. There was no clear price list and one liter of water cost 3,50€, without practically having any other option. Even more unpleasant was an occasional situation in which we had in our bag a water and a juice, without knowing that they were not allowed. We were asked three different times to keep them. We understand that each hotel can have its own rules, but the way the incident was handled made us feel especially uncomfortable, as if we had done something very serious.
Unfortunately, the behavior of some waiters has made our image even worse. There were moments when we felt like we were being looked at with obvious discomfort, while several times we heard feedback from each other about customers. As a visitor, you don’t want to feel commented or disturbed by your presence. The service should create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, which in some cases was noticeably absent.
Finally, there was quite often a strange and unpleasant odor in the common spaces, especially in the hallways and in the elevator. It was not continuous, but when it appeared it was pretty intense and definitely did not help the overall picture of the hotel.
To sum up, we keep the excellent cleanliness of the room and the daily effort of the cleaners, which really deserve congratulations. The old and vintage style of the hotel also did not bother us very much.
On the other hand, the food, the management of the drinks and especially the behavior of some members of the staff left us quite an unpleasant impression. For us, these elements directly influence a visitor’s experience and ultimately shape an overall medium picture.

Beautiful! (But not 4-star quality)
We stayed by booking with Alpitour. It is an international hotel with few Italians, but at least the main information posted on the reception bulletin board could also be written in Italian to help those who are not very proficient in English (Especially given the fact that it is sold by an Italian tour operator.)
We had full board but with drinks to be paid for separately. We only had water at both lunch and dinner, and as extra drinks, two colas and a coffee. Let's say that at least water could be included in the price, given that there are other extra expenses. Lunch is a fixed menu served by the staff at the pool bar. Generally good, apart from the first day when they served us a kind of pasta for soup, large-sized and overcooked! Breakfast and dinner are eaten in the hotel's reserved dining room and are buffet-style. Very good breakfast with a wide choice of sweet and savory items. The dining room also has an outdoor area with a small terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the sea and the pool below.
The rooms should be modernized. Even though everything necessary is there, the furnishings are dated. The outdoor space is nice, equipped with a small table, two chairs, and two lounge chairs with a very well-kept garden. The view from our room of the sea and the small village of Kokkari is very beautiful.
Small bathroom with a tub, a bit uncomfortable. It should be renovated. What you will find are only two glass tumblers, 3 small bottles of shower gel, and some bars of soap. When the bottles were finished, we had to ask at the reception to have them restocked. From a 4-star hotel, one expects something more.
There is a safe, but it is for a fee (€2 per day). Since the hotel is on a hill, it is not very easy to reach the beaches. It is true that there is a path that you can take on foot, but it is steep and rugged; we recommend suitable shoes and not slippers or flip-flops because you risk slipping. In short, you go down, reach the main road, and you can reach Lemonakia beach (the closest one) by keeping left in about 10 minutes. A shuttle service is available, unfortunately with few schedule options, especially for the afternoon return, as it is only at 1:15 PM and 4:15 PM. It would be fairer to add one or change the schedule. If you want to stay at the beach longer, keep in mind that you then have to face the uphill path when walking back. The hotel offers the possibility to rent a car starting from 65€ per day.
We recommend renting one to visit the island and other beaches. Aside from our initial impact, our stay went well.

Top hotel
We enjoyed our stay at Arion Hotel Samos for four weeks. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Our room was tidy, well cared for and well maintained. Both the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet were extensive, varied and always catered for. We had a wonderful holiday and can definitely recommend this hotel! Martine and William

Top hotel!
Super clean hotel and ideally located 1.7 kilometers from the town of Kokkari. Very nice staff. Rooms are neatly cleaned, nice breakfast and dinner is also good. Located on top of a mountain so great views.
