Hidden Gem
We found Mango Villa by chance and we’re so grateful we did! We arrived late and when our driver had trouble finding it he called and was given proper directions and we were met by Irfan who promptly greeted us, carted our luggage and led us through a shortcut to dinner. The room was simple but comfortable with a veranda and chairs and a small refrigerator outside. The room was a double bed, desk and small wicker wardrobe unit. The room was air conditioned and we slept comfortably. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge because it’s one open room with shower toilet and sink so when you shower everything is wet. A larger squeegy is provided to move the water towards the drain but the floor gets very wet and slippery. The sink is small and there is no shelving or counter space so we have to place a wicker side table outside the door and keep opening the door to grab out things. It was a slight inconvenience but nothing major. The owner and Irfan were both extremely kind and helpful during our stay and although the property is nestled amongst shade trees and quiet it’s a 2 min walk to the main cliff with all of the shopping and restaurants. It was everything we needed and we were so grateful for the comfortable space and welcoming vibe. We would definitely recommend to others and stay again if we wanted to be in that side of town.

Host Vincy is lovely. She is very helpful and available.
The room has a very comfy and big bed, hanging space, a big bathroom, a big balcony with chairs and fridge and kettle. The water is solar-heated so timing is crucial for hot showers!
There are many powercuts but there's a torch provided. And an umbrella.
Location is very close to the main restaurants and shops but is also very quiet.
There is a nice roof terrace with table and chairs and guide books and a line to dry clothes. A great place to observe the giant bats...
Wifi is good.
Drinking water available.
All the staff working with Vinsy are great!

Warm, friendly and sincere hospitality, a wonderful guest house
We had a wonderful time staying in Vinciane's ( a Belgium lady) guest house in Varkala. Location was great, just literally 2 minutes walk to the cliff edge, and all the restaurants and shops and stalls. We had two comfortable air conditioned twin rooms. Each room had everything we needed provided, such as kettle, fridge and a fine big bathroom, with great water pressure for our showers. Lovely big balcony's, with seating and a table, really comfy.
Vinciene gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat, and things to do, such as getting henna tattoos, using a near by hotel pool ( 2 mins walk away), and also a canoe trip and over night stay in nearby Munroe Island, (in Vijeesh Home Stay) in the backwaters.
She was in no way pushing anybody's services on us (which we have experienced in other guest houses and hotels), she only provided suggestions when we asked her for her advice on a taxi driver etc, and she was not taking a 'cut' or commission.
We were sad to move on from Mango Villa, and say goodbye to Vinciane, a genuinely warm and kind lady.

Great place, great host
Lovley Kerala style place with a European touch. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Wonderful balcony facing the garden. Excellent location. Host is helpful, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. We had a great time.
